Mr. and Mrs. Benny Main of Aurora, 111., called on his grandmother, Mrs. Helma Tisue, Labor Day. Mr.

and Mrs. R. R. Pennlngton and Jerry Boblenz attended the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Friday, and were overnight guests of his brcrther, Elmer Pennington. Mr.

and Mrs. Lester Sawvel and family met with other relatives at Lake Wapello Sunday for a family get-to-gether and picnic dinner. The guests were his mother, Mrs. Iva Sawvel and sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs.

Pat Pattison of Fairfield, and his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sawvel daughters. Mr. and Mrs.

Alan Griffith and son Marvin of St. Louis, called on her aunt, Mrs. Mettie Roland, Monday. Keith Sawvel went to Iowa City Monday to spend a few days and to enroll at the University of Iowa which opens September 20. Mr.

and Mrs. D'ale Callen and sons Craig and Brtfce of Des Moines spent Wednesday and Thursday with his mother, Mrs. J. R. Callen.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Jordan of Alpha, 111.4 spent Monday and Tuesday with the Ernest Temple and Carson Jordans. They called at the John Laws home Monday afternoon. Orlando Sears attended the funeral of his mother-in-law, Mrs.

J. M. Dudley, held Sunday at Unionville. Mrs. Dudley died Friday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr.

and Mrs. Elmer Arnold near Seymour. Mr. and Mrs. John Laws and Mr.

and Mrs. John Merlin Laws and children spent Sunday with Tobe Vaughn at Mill Grove, Mo. Mr. Vaughn spent several weeks here with his daughter, Mrs. John Laws, this spring.

Mr. and Mrs. Chris Bogart returned Tuesday from a long weekend visit with the Loren Hlner family and other relatives at Cedar Rapids. Miss Mitzie Sawvel returned to her work in Des Moines Wednes- day after spending the last month here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Rawlhtt of Colfax, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Surber spent the Labor- Day weekend at the Mrs.

Mary Stainbrook home at Whittemore, Iowa. Sunday dinner guests at the Kenneth Free home were Mr. and Mrs. Bayard Neff and son Charles of Rockford, and Mrs. Flora Jones.

In the evening they all visited at the Carl Bettls home in Albia. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Miller Eleanor Miller, and Mrs. Alice Wilson attended the wedding of Ivan Gene Gibbs to Romona Norma Darrah, Sunday at 2:00 p.m., at the First Methodist church in Seymour.

Enjoy the Festival, also the lunch at E.U.B. church, Friday, Sept. 10, noon and evening. here received Invitations to the wedding of Mary Ann Slutts of Ottumwa to Leonard Tommy Wilson, of the U. S.

Air Force, which will be an event of Sunday, September 12, at 4:00 o'clock, at the North Court Baptist church in Ottumwa. Mrs. Daisy Blankenship drove to Leon, Sunday to join relatives and all went to McKinley park in Creston where a family reunion was held for the descendents of John J. Warner and Alice (Foster) Warner. At noon an excellent basket dinner was shared by a large group of relatives from Iowa and other states.

The following hours were spent with visiting, picture taking and the enjoyment that makes happy memories of such events. Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Horn and son of Des Moines were dinner guests Saturday of his grandmother, Mrs. Josie Dhority.

Louis Schaffner returned Saturday from spending the week with his sons, Horace and Billy in Omaha, Neb. Mrs. Horace Schaffner and children accompanied him home to spend the weekend and to attend the Foster family reunion at the Centerville park. Rev. Horace Schaffner came Sunday night to spend Labor Day with his parents ewd to take his-famlly home.

Mr. and Mrs. Lew Hlner of Oakdale and Mrs. Basha Foster called at the Schaffner home Saturday. Mrs.

Flo Hiner returned home Thursday from spending several uays with her sister, Mrs. Ira Foster at Centerville. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wayland of Davenport and Mr.

and Mrs. U. S. Mangle returned last Wednesday night from a 5-day trip through the Bad Lands, Black Hills and other points of interest. Mr.

and Mrs. Wayland returned home Thursday evening. Coleen McSparrow of Ottumwa visited with Mrs. Mae McCrory from Thursday to Sunday. Harris O.

Turner, R.M.C. of the Navy, and Mrs. Turner and daughters, Raelene and Pamela were overnight guests of her aunt, Mrs. Charles Coffin, Wednesday. They were enroute from San Diego, to Newport, R.

where Harris has been transferred. He is communications instructor at naval base. Mrs. Turner to the former Eileen Lovell, daughter of Mrs. Paul Lovell and the late Paul Lovell.

Mr. and Mrs. Josephs Meyers and children left Thursday for their home at Detroit, after an overnight visit with her aunt, Mrs. Curtis Burton and Mr. Burton.

Stroud of Lorimor spent Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. M. K. Blackman. Taylor Leonard departed Saturday to visit his sons, Steward and Sidney at Brainerd, at Frank at Duluth, and their families.

Mr. and Mrs. Friz Walter and Marcia camped out at the state lair from Friday to Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs.

Max McDonough, Mr. and Mrs. Jack McDonough accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dagle of Des Moines to the state fair Friday and camped out until Sunday evening.

Mrs. Blanche Graham stayed with Max's girls and Mrs. Lucille Taylor took care of Jack's children. Mrs. Richard Raymle- of Des Moines and Marcia Dagle spent the weekend at the Garnet McDonough home.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dagle and sons of Des Moines came Tuesday evening to the McDonough home to spend the rest of the week and attend Fall Festival. Mr. and Mrs.

George VariDorin and Mary Ruth of Carlisle spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred VanDorin, and her parents, the Lester Owens of Blakesburg. Mr. and Mrs.

Dale Laws and family of Algona came Thursday to spend a few days at the John Laws home. Bob Sloan, of Denver, Gerald Morgan, Cecil Schrodt and Bill Callen went Friday to Birchwood, Wisconsin, on a five day fishing trip. Burke Tassell of Beloit, called on friends in Moravia Friday. Mr. and Mrs.

Tassell are visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Burgher, and at the Roland Tassell home in Van Meter. Mrs. Laura Gidney of Garden Grove, came Friday to isit her sister, Mrs.

Warren DuVall. Mr. and Mrs. Bayard Neff. and sons of Rockford, spent the holiday weekend with her mother, Mrs.

Flora Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dean Tisue and son of Waterloo spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Carrie Tisue, and her parents, the Glen Overturfs, at Mystic.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Toft and family of Minneapolis, left Friday after visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otha Taylor and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Jordan and Eddie of Kansas City, are visiting at the Carson Jordan home and with her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Ivan Harsh. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Howey and Elise of Michigan City, are expected here Friday to visit at the Lee Hiatt, Charlie and Mary Platt homes, and with other friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Burnett and Ronnie, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Oswald and daughter of Newton spent Sunday at the Delph Pence and Paul Spencer homes.

A doctor was called and he was taken home where he is to rest in bed a few days. He is much better now.

Frank Stajcar and family spent Friday evening at Alvin Spring home. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Murdy had as Labor Day week end guests the Marvin Yeager's from El Paso, 111., Mr. and Mrs.

Yeager, Allan and Marvalee and Lester Murdy and attended the state fair Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alferd Burkland and family of Gary, spent the week end at the Albert and Howard Burkland homes and the Walter Whisler home. Mr.

and Mrs. Lionel Spring, Doyle and Darlene were in Chariton and Knoxville Sunday and visited the Houser families there. Two little girls came to live in the Salem vicinity the first of last week. One born Monday to Mr. and Mrs.

Wm. O'Donnell, the other born to Mr. and Mrs. Ted Clark. Mrs.

Clark before her marriage was Joyce Walker. Miss Joyce Harrett of Aurora, 111. spent Sunday night and Monday at the Joe Moore home. Mrs. Albert Burkland has had word that her aged mother In Artesia, New Mexico is quite ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Jay Leonard of Mt. Ararat vicinity spent Sunday afternoon at the Harry Wilkinson home. Mr.

and Mrs. Harold Spring were supper guests at the Alvin Spring home Monday evening in honor of Gloria's sixth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Dixon and family of Moulton were Monday evening visitors at Harold Hen- shaws.

Banks Doggett, who have been visiting this week, left for their home Friday, Charles Henderson and friend of Albia were calling on friends here Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pugh of Bloomfield and Miss Darlene Richmond of Centerville spent Sunday at the parental Rev. Herbert Richmond home.

Rev. Herbert Richmond attended the father and son banquet at the First Baptist church at Fairfield where he entertained, Thursday. He was at Corydon for the Southern Iowa Baptist Ass'n. and spoke a Bible story in the morning, and entertained at the banquet of the B.Y.F. In the evening.

The Women's Society of Christian Service met with the president, Mrs. Goldie Hunt Thursday, Sept. 2 with 12 members resent. There was a program, with refreshments served at the close. The Baptist Ladies met Thursday, Sept.

2, with Mrs. Laura Moore with seven members present. A program was conducted and refreshments served. Mr. and Mrs.

Ford Taylor and children, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hinton spent Sunday evening at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Tobe Cross. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Goode are visiting at the parental Frank Hopkins home.

Mrs. Millie and son Jack Hopkins spent the week end with their daughter and sister and family Mrs. D. M. Moony.

Mr. and Mrs. Victor Bass ana. son Vicie of Florida came Sunday to spend several days with h6t mother, Mrs. Stella Herman and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Chriss Domer and son. Dean spent the week end in Muscatine with their son and family. The annual fox hunt is going on now and will continue through Thursday with sixty hounds entered.

Miss Lula Kohler and the Fay Smith family were Sunday dinner guests with Mrs. Araann Smith and Joe Cantril.
