The massive long distance telephone poles on the west side Pennsylvania avenue, between the JuniuU bridge and Tenth street, are being moved this afternoon to points within the curb line of the pavements.

The Home Electric Hunt company has-erectej new pole on the east side of the aveuuo, for thuii wiring, replacing the old pole whict stood without the curb line. The work of paving goes bravely on, aided by perfect weather and the energy of Contractor MoMenamlw and his assistants, A beginning has already been made on the ballast and cement foundation, and the curbstones have been set on the east aide of the avenue a goodly part of the distance from Tenth street to the bridge. A burglarious attempt was made to enter Watson's Tenth street gun store about a naif hour after midnight (his morning, R. Then ttenovo won two games from the making these two clubs tie at 14 and 8 lost. Each had yet a postponed game with Beliefonte.

As Bellefontedisbanded ithout Ing off these two postponed games, Renovo and the Demorests, who seem to indulge the impression that they are themselves the River league, counted the games lost by Bel iefonte, thus bringing all three clubs to a lie at 15 won and 8 lost. Of course Beliefonte could not play off the tie, as their club is disbanded. Ho Renovo and the Demorests naturally took the matter into their own hands to play off the tie themselves. The arrangement was that three games should be played to determine the championship of the River league. The first game at Wllliamsport last Thursday resulted in a tie ncore.

The second game at Renovo on Friday resulted in a victory for Renovo, score 13 to 3. Saturday's game was to have been played at Lock Haven, but the Demorests refused to play and conceded the championship to Renovo who therefore flung to the breeze a banner inscribed "Renovo club, winners of the River league pennant, 1893." The Renovo club had the assistance ot Shugarts, of the National league, and Cody, of the Southern league, in these final games with the Demorests. Theso are tlio Timed. A philososophical genius who has been studying over the situation announces as a result of his earnest cogitations, that these are the times that we should have confidence in each other. These are the times when we should have confidence in these situations that are the mainstay of our community.

These are the times when we should stand by them as they have stood by us. These are the times that wo should try to remember that there are others in the world besides ourselves that they have their troubles as well as we have. These are tho times that we should remember that even the darkest cloud has a silver lining. These are the times when we should not get scared to death about nothing. These are the times when we should go on about our business, doing the best we can, and not crossing any bridges until we come to them.

These are the times when we should act like not like fools. If you want people to respect you you must respect yourself. The Schomaker piano won superior honors at the World's Fair. Head about it in Farran Zerbe's new advertisement. llev.
