KEENE In his address to the 1,400 new Freshmen students at' the University of Delaware, President John A. Perkins said: "I would like the class of 1967 to know that the University of Delaware, in seeking to do its duty by you, ii going to try to change you. If we don't change you in some appropriate ways, your coming to this university will have been a waste of time and money." This honest, straight-from-the-shoulder declaration of war upon 1,400 private little status quo's is admirable and one could only wish that its like could come crashing through from other rostrums to other audiences. The parents, friends, neighbors, of these young Freshmen, for example, need to be on the receiving end of a treatment that aims at changing them, changing the way they think and feel about life, about the world, about the millions of other human beings who inhabit this green earth with them. It is just because teachers, preachers, and other presumed shapers of human thought and conviction have coddled us and left us with our mouldy little minds where pride and prejudice preside amid the cobwebs that we are not more ready for this grand and fearful greatest of all times.

There are no problems menacing the race of man which we cannot handle if we are willing to submit our rigid little system of fixed ideas to some process of disciplined change. The most frightening thing about this nervous half of the Twentieth Century is just that we might not be able to change enough fast enough. The unexamined prejudices and bigotries, cherished through many unenlightened years, must yield to ampler ideas, nobler attitudes, if we are to survive. If this fair earth should be burned to a cinder in atomic fires, the pathetic explanation of it all would be WE WOULD NOT CHANGE! It must somehow become the sober responsibility of every serious speaker who addresses him-self to the men and women of these times to say, in some words, what President Perkins told the Freshman Class at oiie University of Gunsmoke Western Gunsmoke Western Short is investigating AMIIA, Boning Rubin Carter vs. Farid Salim Make That Spare a Delaware corporation.

Heading the list is The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters, a delightful show with humor, excitement and pathos. It's a very faithful adaptation of the opening chapters of Robert Lewis Taylor's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, a chronicle of the adventures of Jaimie and his irresponsible doctor father as they travel from Kentucky, with creditors chasing the father out of town, to the Elysian Fields of California. Kurt Russell, an irresistible youngster, plays Jaimie with a great amount of charm and Dan O'Herlihy is perfectly cast as Sardius McPheeters.
