VI'E call attention to the foilowiup cs- tract from the proceedings of tbe Ia 5 cil meeting: Mr. Biggins, from the committee on Levee, reported adverse to the proposition of the Kcoknk Northern Line 1'ncEet and recommend that they a wharf boat, which report was approved. Tbis proposition was for to build a warehouse on the levee, and supported hy the petition of 103 merchants all of whom are interested in tbe building of a warehouse for tbe protection of their Ireignt. It strikes UB that the Council treated the petition of men who represent nine-tenths of the t.usiness of the city in a very cool and cavalier manner. Witness the action of the Cily Council Monday in the matter of a warehouse on the the levee. When one hundred and one of your most prominent merchants and shipping firms signed a petition praying the City Council to grant them facilities for doiug business on ihe levee upon an equal tooting with otherg, that Council coolly refers the matter to a committee of three, who, without conferring with the merchants most interested, decide the matter in the Council against the prayers of one hundred of your best merchants. Tbis looks to me like dieoriminatibg against a very laudable enterprise. Iu the matter of a wharf boat at Alton, that would accommodate the shippers, it would cost 520,000.00, and the money to buiM it spent elsewhere and is too expensive lo keep it up, and hence this proposition will not be entertained. A warehouse between the railroad and the river is what the shippers want as well as the boats, and the money would be spent here in the building, and it would bring in a revenue to the city.

There is a larne amount of freight that has to be protected from the weather and thieves, hence ii roust be put up in a safe place, and fully one half the time the shippers aid boats I Physician and Surgeon Office and residence on tbe corner of Fourth and Henry streets. Ia3-dwtv ry PAUL OARVIN (HomoBOpathigt,) are unable to get to the present warehouses ou account of the Levee being blocked up with oars. Do they pay any wharfage The Levee committee's attention has been personally directed to this state of affaiis, and they coolly remarked that we wanteti the track here iu the first place. I admit there were few interested parties that wanted the track, and got it to tbe disad vantage of everybody else and somewhat to their own. More anon.

Now that the election is over, the "pres enl incumbent's" so-called life lease teriniu ated, and township organization adopted the people begin to talk about somethin, else.

In regard to the vote on township organ ization we desire to call especial attentio to the fact that this preciucl, tho allege headquarters of the so-called "Rings," wa. but little behind the other precincts i giving a majority in favor uf its adoption so that whatever degree of trulh there ma nave been heretofore in the charge ihiit th voters of this precinct were ne-irly unan mous in their opposition to township organ izatiou it certainly was not true ou tae day of the last election. Some people -aj it was the country vote of this precinct that favored it. If tuey do we will correct the statement by eaying tUata large proportion of tbe voters of this city voled this time in favor of the measure. Another erroneous impression prevailing to some extent is that all our county uflicera were opposed to township organization.
