(Continued on Pace Two) Agitating Successor to The Late T. R. Crowell Much Speculation as to Who Will be City Engineer- Thomas Humphrey, who is Familiar With Work of Office, May be Elected FIREDESTROYS PRINT SHOP ATHERSHEY Home of the Hershey Press Burned ori Saturday Afternoon There is much speculation throughout the city as to who will succeed the late Thomas R. Crowell as city engineer. Mr.

Crowell's term expivod about two months ago, but as the present administration is nearing a close, it seemed-to be'the purpose of the present-council to leave the matter of the selection of an engineer for the new council. The death of Mr. Crowell would probably not have changed this purpose, but for legal obstacles. The assessments lor sewerage on the north side, and for three sections of woodblock are about to be made, and as the engineer must perform certain legal duties in certifying to the correctnesb of the estimates, it will probably be necessary to elect a successor to Mr. Crowell as soon as possible, Citizens who are familiar with the conditions In the engineer's office in a general way, have been urging the election of Thomas Humphrey for the place.

Ho has been in the service of the.city for fifteen years, or thereabouts, as assistant engineer and in-that capacity he has done very much of the important work of the office during the past several years. He Is thoroughly familiar with all 'conditions in the city, and is regarded as thoroughly competent. The city has found it necessary at various times to engage a consulting engineer, and with such assistance for extraordinary, events, Mr. Humphrey would undoubtedly bo able to cope with all the problems of the department.
