Miss Maxine Wolf, student nurse at the St. Anthony hospital in Carroll arrived home Wednesday for a visit with home folks until after the holidays. Miss Mary Lorenz, who for the past month has been employed in a home at Council Bluffs spent Christmas at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs F. Lorenz.

Mrs. P. E. Skow entertained the members of her family including the Jprgen Skows, Ole Floms, Baulsons and Harold at Wester, Alan and Anna, and the carl Johnson fam- and Mrs. Silas Skow dinner Sunday.

Mrs. A. M. Lease was hostess to the members of the Study club Thursday afternoon with Mrs. John Amesbury leading 1 in the lesson and a book review on "TO Have and To Hold" by Marie Johnson.

Miss Vera Kouba who for the past year has been employed in the Government Home Loan office in Fort Dodge has been transferred to Omaha where the head office for eight states is being established. The regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary will be held thio week Thursday night with the Misses Gunhilcl and Margaret Flom hostesses. Michael's Catholic church Wednesday morning at 6 o'clock, Father Veit saying the nuptial Mass. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs. P. j. Fuchsen and is well known in this community.

She graduated from Presentation Academy and then took a nurses course at Rochester, and since then has practiced her profession. The bridegroom is employed in the Globe-Gazette office in Mason City. August Johnson was taken suddenly ill last Wednesday nt her home. At the time Mrs. Johnson was alone, icr son, George having gone to town, doctor was and Mrs. Johnson was put to bed. Foi some years she has been afflicted witl imb trouble and it was a recurrence his old ailment that caused her ill- less.

Mrs. Johnson is. now 81 and lives with her son, George. The Riverdale Woman's club wil' meet Jan. 9 with Mrs.

Hiko Carol. Joe Lago is visiting at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Ralph Campbell of Seneca. Merrill Parson is employed temporarily at the Vernon Robison farm neai Jalbraith. Mr.

and Mrs. Ray Fitch enjoyed the company of their entire family of children Christmas day. Several from this vicinity attended the funeral -cf Mrs. Chas. Magnusson on Wednesday Mrs.

Lydia Robison is recovering nicely from her recent accident jn which she fell and broke her arm. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hammer are visiting at the Joe Balk home in Minn. Mr.

Balk has been ill for some time. Mrs. John Bockes is getting along nicely at the Algona hospital. Carpenters have been busy remodeling the Bockes home. John Weiler and son, Duane of Reinbeck visited Wednesday and Thursday at the J.

C. Mawdsley hUjpe. Mr. Weiler is Mrs. Mawdsley's brother.

Mrs. Sim Leigh has been with her mother, Mrs. Chas. Magnu'son at Al- ijona for the past week. Mrs.

Roy Butterfield of Elmore has also been assisting with her care. Edward Mawdsley accompanied the Algona creamery board to Mason City Dec. 20 to attend one of the Iowa State Brand creamery association monthly business meetings. Mr. and Mrs.

George Wolfe attended a card party last Thursday evening at the R. G. Willrett home. On March 1 the Willretts will move to the farm now tenanted by the Earl Millers. Geo.

Hackman, returned to his school duties nt Knoxvillo, last Sunday evening after having spent the Christmas vacation with his par- cntr, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hackman, Sr. The Irvington Sunday School presented their Christmas program at the church the preceding Christmas in the morning.

Due to the inclemency of the weather it was not so well attended. Kenneth Wood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wood and Arlet Handland, the daughter of Mrs. Theo.

Handland, were married Dec. 20 at Britt. The young couple will reside for the present with Mrs. Handland at Hutchins. Mr.

and Mrs. George Hale, former Mr, and Mrs. Sumner Parsons entertained on Christmas day a number relatives and friends. Those enjoylnj the courtesy were the Jake anc D. Smith families of Hurt, Mr.

and Mrs. John Jennings, Henry FrombacV and son, Walter of Whittemore, Mr and Mrs. Theo. Harr and the Harold Frombach family. On New Years day the Theo.

Harrs entertained the same group for dinner. Mrs. Louise Krantz Died Dec. 22 Algona friends of Mrs. Louise Krantz were surprised and saddened last week to learn of her death on Saturday, December 22, which occurred after only a few days illness with pneumonia.

She was a lady whose many kindly qualities had endeared her to the community. Mary Lena Wellendorf was born October 4, 1871, at Madison, Wisconsin. At the age of four years she came with her parents to Iowa and with them located in Franklin county. On September 23, 1891, she was united in marriage to Louis Krantz at Sheffield, Iowa after which they moved to the farm home north of Sexton, where they continued to reside until sixteen years ago, when they moved to Algona, and have since made this their home. To them were born three children: Raymond of Titonka, Mrs.

Hazel Hutchison of Wa- terteo and Mrs. Pearl Asa of near Algona. A number of years ago Mrs. Krantz united with the Methodist Episcopa' at Sexton, and with her husband and daughter, Pearl, transform her membership to the Methodist church of Algona in October, 1918. For a number of years she was very active in the work of the Sexton and Doan churches, but failing health in recent years has prevented her taking any active part.

Mrs. Krantz was one of ten children in her family, all of the others having preceded her in death, excepting Frank of Chicago, Mrs. Fanny Johnson of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Mrs Lena Stoddard of California. Besides her husband and three children, above mentioned, she leaves thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services conducted by Dr J.

H. Edge, were held from the Methodist church at two o'clock Monday afternoon, Dec. 24, and interment made in Riverview cemetery. TWO WEDDINGS ATLUVERNE SEXTON NEWS tenants on the have moved to Geo. At the regular business meeting the Lutheran young people's society on Thursday the following officers wen elected: president, LeRoy Hanselman vice president, Orlando Olson; secretary, Aleda Olson; treasurer, Gerhnr Meyer; reporter, Helen Hanselman Afterwards a social time was enjoyec and an exchange of Christmas gifts was held. Ernest Meyer, Jr. High and low score for ladies were won by Mrs. D. Ristau and Florence Lund, for the men by Peter Ruberg high and Lewis Block, low. Chair prize was won by Harold Wolf and travel prize by Gerhart Meyer.

Mrs. Christensen of Renwick who gives piano lessons here gave her scholars a party at her home in Renwick Friday Those from LuVerne who attended were Mary Alice Biggings, Delores Voss, Phyllis Lichty, Kathleen Sanford, and Dorothy Mae Lindebak. Mary Alice Biggings received the prize for the most hours of prac- iice. Mrs. Christensen's music scholars at Renwick and Coiwith were also present at the party and a dainty lunch was served.

Mrs. John Voss drove to Renwick taking- the girls there and bringing them back. time. Mrs. Eliza Richards of Algona anc Hansen family formerly on the Quarton place are now on the Godfrey farm.

Melvin Sill still remains as manger. Darold Schutz of Goldfleld is visiting this week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rome August Robison and family of Swea City, and Mr. and Mrs.

B. Shipler and family of Maxwell were week end guests at the Geo. Johnson home. On Christmas day Mr and Mrs. Johnson had as guests Mr and Mrs.

Harry Seeley and son, Bert of Whittemore and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carlisle of Geneva, 111. Omar Cleary, former Irvington resident, was taken back to the Algona hospital last afternoon. Some time ago Omar suffered a stroke and has been confined to his bed ever since.

Recently he has been making his home with his foster-daughter, Miss Jessie Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brown will move March 1st to the John Crowell 80 acre farm two miles south of Algona, on 169. This farm was formerly occupied by the Mabt Kelleys. Mr.

Crowell is negotiating for an electric light share from the Irvington Light Power so he can install electric lights on this larm. Friends here received word that Mr. and Mrs. Wilder Alger, former residents here but now located at Oakland, California, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Dec. 16.

Mr. and Mrs. Alcer were married here in 1884. Their nld home is the farm just north of the No. 4 school tenanted this year by the Meyers.

E. R. Rawson, former local depot ag- returned to Irvington Saturday from an extended visit to Florida. Mv. Rawson had been changed from the Irvington station to Oden, but Mr.

Allen, present agent, has been transferred to Oden and Mr. Rawson is temporarily unemployed. A Mr. Thompson of Toledo, Iowa, has been given the local station. The Frank Asa family moved on son, Faye of Illinois, were Saturday din ner guests at the home of Mr.

The Ladies Aid meets Thursday af- ernoon with Mrs. Henry Wegener Sunday School teachers' meeting' on riday evening at 8 o'clock Mrs. Jane Masters Funeral Wednesday Whittemore: Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the M. E. church for Mrs.

Jane Masters, who passed away Monday morning. Rev. Wood officiated at the ceremony. Emma Jane Seeley was born March 31, 1849 at Milwaukee and lived there until 1869 when they moved to this community. In June, 1879, she was united in marriage to James Masters at Whittemore.

To" this union one son was born 'but he died when a young man. Her husband also preceded her In death. She is survived by one brother, Prank Seeley of Whittemore and one sister, Mrs. Prank Carlisle of Ba-. tavia, SI.

Burial was made in the cemetery east of town. The pall bearers were Harry Seeley, Claude Seeley, Roy Oar- lisle, Ray Carlisle, Wallace Simpson and Henry Prombach. Relatives from out of town to attend Read The Want Fays. the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs Carlisle.
