Tho new stores now building by Mr. J.L.Johnson on the corner of College avenue and Main street are being rapidly pushed to completion. The build- iugs are 24x50 of brick, with corrugated iron roof. The corner store will have a hall about 24x80 above. The other building is one story.

The latter will be occupied by Mahlon Malson with a stock of groceries and the corner will be rented by Jno. Leverott, who will remove the stock of books and stationery and gents' furnishing goods from his present stand as soon as the new building; is ready for occupancy. The suggestion is made that, the Town Council should put in some central spot in the business part of town large cistern to serve as a safeguard against lire. The discharge from three or four large roofs in the immediate neighborhood could be turned in and would suffice to'keep a stage of water, while a well organized "Bucket Brigade" having plenty of water near at hand could do efficient service in case fire within a radios of a block or more from tho reservoir.
