Buying Interest in stocks expanded today and leading issues advanced fractions, to around a point.

The improvement followed a hesitant start. As trading progressed, through, early gains were extended and losses either cut or wiped out. Trading quickened a bit when the market showed sikns of advancing but overall activity was still limited. One of the fastest performers was Reo Motors with a rise of around a point to 9 5-8 following news of an Army contract. Others ahead included U.

S. Steel, Youngstown Sheet, General Motors, Chrysler, Studebaker, Goodrich, Woolworth, Montgomery Ward, United Aircraft, Schenley, Distillers Consolidated Natural Gas, Ketinecott Copper, American Can, Johns Manville, Philip Morris, Southern Pacific, Southern Railway, Superior Oil of California, Gulf Oil, Barnsdall Oil, and Eastern Air Lines. Running into minor difficulties were Boeing, National Distillers, Western Union, Cerro de Pasco, General Electric, J. C. Penney, N.
