Greenville woman takes 47 awards in flower show By EILEEN C. SPRAKER Staff reporter In the final sweepstakes tallies at the conclusion of the Philadelphia Flower Show last weekend, Pamela Copeland of Greenville was first runner-up among individuals accumulating the greatest number of points in horticultural classes. A consistent winner year after year for her specimen plants, Cope-land this year won 47 individual awards. She was surpassed only by Sylvia Lin of Rydal, Pa. Copeland's totals included 11 blue ribbons, 12 reds, nine golds and 15 honorable mentions.

She's a member of the Garden Club of Wilmington. Her garden club was runner-up among garden clubs for the club accumulating the greatest number of points in all competitive sections of the show. Old York Road Garden Club of Rydal, was winner. Tallying up area gardener awards for the week, the flower show awards committee listed these notable totals: Mr. and Mrs.

Bayard Sharp of Centreville received 13 awards nine blues and four reds. Mrs. Ford B. Draper of Chadds Ford, had 10 awards; Marka du Pont and Veronica Smith Darby, New Castle, each had W. Lunger, Greenville, and Pierre S.

du Pont, Rockland, and Diana Norris of Coatesville, each had one. The sweepstakes award for the outstanding blue-ribbon exhibit of the week in the niche classes went to Sally Yow of Media, Pa. In the horticultural classes, there were 1,168 entries from 219 exhibitors, 38 of them new exhibitors this year. In artistic entries, there were 249 entries from 164 exhibitors. Attendance tallies are incomplete, but show organizers said they believe the figures will top the 240,000 who attended the show at the Philadelphia Civic Center in 1985.

"We were worried about the expressway, but our attendance was excellent," said Jean Byrne of the sponsoring Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. "We were worried about the strike SEPTA and they magnanimously postponed it until the closing hour of the show." Cooper Group 16 Oz.
