Variety Of Features To Be Offered At 1940 South Dakota State Fair TWO FAMOUS IOWANS got together in Hollywood when Gus fachrader, world's dirt track auto racing champion from Cedar Rapids, called upon Rosemary Lane, lovely film actress, to christen his new $15,000 speed creation. The former Indianola girl is shown above performing the ceremony, while Schrader looks on, somewhat anxiously. Schrader and his 300 horsepower machine will be seen in action during the South Dakota State Fair speed cards at Huron Monday, Sept. 2, and Friday, Sept.

ALL THE WAY FROM their home in South China, the Naitto troupe, newest of the sensational Oriental acrobatic acts to tour this country, will come the South Dakota State Fair as an afternoon and evening attraction before the grandstand each of the six days, Sept. 2 to 7, inclusive. Previously only men have been shot from a cannon, but this time Miss Bobbie Jeanne has accepted the challenge to become a human cannon ball. She is shot from the cannon with tremendous force, rises high in the air, and contrary to every rule of safety, lands in the outstretched arms of her assistants instead of in a net. Miss Jeanne travels for a distance of 50 feet before her flight through space is halted by the catchers.

LEADING CONTENDER for South Dakota State Fair harness racing laurels next week is expected to be Zenith, who has paced the mile course in John Bradford of St. Paul, shown above putting the big sidewheeler through a brisk workout, will probably be in the sulky when Zenith bids for first money in the free-for-all pace. THE STATE FAIR grasshopper control exhibit in the agricultural building will be under the direction of George I. Gilbertspn, above, State College extension entomologist. Mr.

Three rampways similar to the one pictured above will be placed in a line on the track and the intrepid driver will shoot his sedan over each one in succession. The ramnways will be raised until, each is 42 inches high, and the lower running board actually will "touch tha ground before he attempts to bring the machine back to four wheels. Heralded as the fastest creation ever built for dirt track racing exclusively, Schrader's car will be a stand-out entrant in the national circuit championship speed battles scheduled for the South Dakota State Fair at Huron, Monday, Sept. 2, and Friday, Sept. 6. BONILLA HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI RESUME DUTIES BONILLA, Aug. 29 --(Special)-Many alumni of Bonilla High School will again be engaged in teaching throughout the state this year.

Miss Dorothy Nesfield started classes in a rural school north of St. Lawrence last Monday. Ellen Todnem, Dorothy Atkinson, and Leora Meyer will be employed in Altoona and Allen Townships starting next week. Elaine Meyer will leave for Ideal, S. Saturday and start teaching at the school there next week.

Mr. and Mrs. Camden Meyer and son leff last week for Nez Perce, where Mr. Meyer will teach 'in the higl school. The port of Montreal is capable ol accommodating 100 ocean steamers.

A LARGE EXHIBIT of hogs, sheep, beef cattle and horses from the State College herds at Brookings will be shown at tha 1940 State Fair in Huron next week. I. B. Johnson, above, director of the State College experiment station, will supervise the exhibit and will act as cattle judge in the adult section of the Fair.
