Bchoflfld, Meade. Chism. Navy Loses Trophies For Crew Ineligibility NEW YORK, Oct. 25 INS. All trophies have been withdrawn from the Navy crew which used an ineligible man in winning collegiate rowing's two biggest races in 1954.

The Intercollegiate Rowing Association and the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges, sponsors of the annual Syracuse Regatta and the Eastern Sprint Championships, respectively, announced last night that the action includes individual as well as team trophies. Navy authorities themselves reported, shortly after the sprint event a': Washington on May 15 and the IRA regatta on June 19, that Coxswain William A. Ken-nington had been discovered to be ineligible under rules of the two associations because he received a degree from Vandcr-bilt before entering Annapolis. Kennington was one of two new members in 1954 of a Navy eight-oared crew that won the 1952 Olympics and went undefeated for three straight years. Furgol Voted Golfer of Year ClirCAGO, Oct.

25 (W. U. S. Open winner Ed Furgol, who made himself a golf champion despite a crippled left arm. has been named 1954 professional golfer of the year.

Furgol beat out-young Bob Toski, the year's leading money winner, 417Vi to 3874 In voting by 902 of the nation's pro golfers, newsmen and golf officials. The Professional Golfers Association announced the results yesterday. The honor went to Furgol largely on his victory in this year's Open, the climax of a long career of following the PGA circuit. Toski's top performance this year was his victory in the Tarn O'Shanter "World Championship of Golf." He has pocketed this year and won three other tournaments. PGA Champion Chick Harbert was third in the balloting with 30 votes.
