He was active in athletics, and played basketball in the C. Y. O. and Industrial Leagues. Corporal Hall, who was 6lightly wounded in action in Italy, was hospitalized for three days but is now recovered and back on active duty.

He sent the Purple Heart home his parents. He has a brother, Beula Hall, who is also in the service, stationed in Alaska. His father is a well-known contracting carpenter. Another brother, Norman Hall, is employed in Milford. Private Padley, who was formerly a star athlete at Claymont High School where he was garduated in June, 1942, has been reported missing in action in France since D-Day.

He had written to his parents one week before the invasion, saying he had completed his course at communications school in the Infantry. He had been in service since February, 1943, and in England since last July. He had been studying communications in preparation for the invasion.
