2 Councilmen Honored At a citizens' meeting of the taxable of the Delaware side of Delmar Monday night, two councilmen, Carlton James and Newell Johnson, were nominated for new terms of two years. Prompt action by the city in recon- struction of the recently washed out Silver Lake dam and development of suitable bathing beaches on the lake shore are asked in a petition to City Council signed by 267 citizens. George Vaapa, former vocational agriculture teacher of the Harrington High School whose home is in Wilmington, also told of his experiences. He was a former member of the Harrington Rotary Club. Lieutenant Vaapa was an armament officer stationed somewhere in North Africa and later in Italy, and took part in the invasion of North Africa. He was overseas for 18 months before returning home. The old-timers declare the backbone of winter is broken, but at the same time they admit that there may be many flarebacks of weather between now and the last week in April. The last date for killing frosts has been recognized as April 25 for more than 30 years, although many lower Delawareans will recall June 3, 1913, when there was a killing frost and ice formed.

Early spring crops were killed and had to be replanted, but it turned out to be one of the biggest crop years in several decades. ELKTON, March 15 (Special).
