12th, 1869, to Sept. 12th, 1869. 7b ht Pretident and Member of the City Council of Canton Gkstlkmes: During the past month some delay was caused by the unfavorable weather. The prospect and progress of the work warrants us in stating to you that we will be enabled, by the latter part ot this month, to introduce through the pipes water from Myers' Lake to different parts of our city. Five hydrants are already located; connections can by that time be made to the main pipes, and the water used for fire, domestic and manufacturing purposes.

By November first the dam, race and Holly machinery will be lu fine working' order. The Creator appears to have located the lake for the especial benefit of our little city, and at the same time furnished its shores for upwards of one thousand feet in the direction of Canton with a gravel and pebblestone fillerer, through which the water from the lake before it enters the pipe, notwilhstand ing we have the pipe laid co as to enter the lake at pleasure, FIStAKCE. One word for the benefit of our particular friends, who endeavor to manufacture unfavorable im pressions by merely asking smart and Innocent questions. We will allude to a few of them.

l9t. Why were not the Water Works fund of deposited for safa keep lug in the Stark County Treasury? Ans. Because the law does not require it of us, and further, by depositing it in the banks as we do, we need not pay the Treasurer one-half per cent, being $500, for receiving and disbursing it, that is saved to the city. 2d. Do the banks have to pay interest, if so, who gets the interest I Ans.

7 he banks pay a fair Interest, all of which will be credited to the city. 3d. Will the $100,000 complete the work, or will we have to vote another $30 0001 Ana. We are of. the opinion that the works will be completed for several thou sand dollars less than the $100,000, ana the surplus can be applied to the payment of Interest or principal of the Bonos.

Editors Dxmocbat: In your lat an aapeal from of Canton," to the proper authority of our asking them to reclaim the old grave yard from iu present neglected and disreputable ap nearance. I have aa opinion on the same subject which I desire to express. That the pres cut condition of that ground is a reproach to the town, I will not dispute. What had best be done with it la a question that has long agitated tho public mind. Since so many of the older citizens buried there have been removed, that feeling we are wont to entertain for the venerated dead.

so poetically described byA la to a considerable extent curtailed, and as last aa lota are Durchasad in the new Cemetery by relatives of those remaining in the okl ground, will this transfer continue, until there will be comparatively few left to venerate. As a coneequence, the interest we once felt in the Dlace will be lost. My plan for Its disposal is this. Let the City Council obtain from the Legislature an act eoablinc them to dispose of the ground for the benefit of the city. Other towns iu the Stato have had burial grounds donated in the same way, and disposed of them in the manner Indicated.

Bodies re mainlng after due notice Is given for this removal, can be transferred to new Cemeterv at the expense of the city. Lm the eround be sold in lota at public auction. the CITIZEN. I yoa want the best and cheapest Boots and Bhoes in town, call at Uockius son s. 15tf.
