Brandow, engineer who helped shape Angeles skyline with such as the Los Angeles Arena, the Los Angeles tion Center and the renovated Angeles Central Library, He was 87. She is survived by brothers, Woodrow Brusewitz of Milford, Delaware and Henry Brusewitz of Black Creek, Wisconsin; nephews, Dale Brusewitz of Hemet and Eric Hansen of Sacramento, and numerous other relatives. A dynamic and independent woman, she worked for many years as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service in Los Angeles. She was an active horsewoman who rode for several years in the Rose Bowl parade on New Years Day. After her retirement, she moved to Sacramento and lived with her sister, Clarice Hansen. During her retirement, she gave of herself to her family and friends.

She participated in family genealogical research, traveled often, and played the horses. The family would like to acknowledge and thank "Love and her board and care home in Elk Grove for the wonderful care they provided Rose Marie during the last two years of her life. In accordance with Rose Marie's wishes, she will be interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 PM Friday, June 9, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Columbarium of Independence, Freedom Mausoleum. BRUSEWITZ, Rose Marie Marie passed away peacefully in Sacramento on May 31, 2000 Obituaries new high-rises, Brandow assured the public that modern computers had made it possible to build earthquake-resistant buildings by helping to establish the strength requirements for all heights. He said that 30-story and 40-story buildings then under construction would sway more in a strong wind than in a big earthquake and that the buildings were designed to "give" about a foot at the top. Brandow was a director of the Structural Engineers Assn. of California, national director of the American Society of Civil Engineers and president of its Los Angeles chapter, and president of the American Institute of Consulting Engineers.

In 1975, the American Society of Civil Engineers gave Brandow its Ernst E. Howard Award for excellence in structural engineering. In 1981, Brandow and Johnston were jointly recognized for their outstanding work by the Construction Industries Committee of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. Born in Crookston, Brandow came to Los Angeles with his family in 1928. He was an Eagle Scout who earned the Silver Beaver Award.

A graduate of USC, Brandow was a lifelong supporter of the university, serving as president of its General Alumni in 1970-71 and as a CUNNINGHAM, Dorothy E. DOSIER, Pauline Neptune Society ELGER, Alexandria H. Born in 1904 in Chicago, Illinois, Zandra came to Los Angeles in 1906. She became an educator of note, and joined the faculty of Fremont High School when it opened in 1928. She taught social studies and English there until her retirement in 1969. Married to art teacher Clifford Elger in 1948 (her second marriage), she developed her own artistic bent and became a gourmet cook, avid gardener, and skilled needlewoman.

After Cliff's death in 1966, she and her protegee, Mary Eppstein, the widow of Zandra's former pupil, traveled extensively around the world, sharing their interest in foreign customs and faraway places. Back home, in 1971, she joined and became recording secretary of the Westwood Hills Women's Club, a philanthropic organization. About the same time, she joined the Santa Monica and Westside Philharmonic Committee, which she also served as recording secretary. She was active in both groups until her death. Mourning her passing, while rejoicing in her long and active life, are many friends, especially her companion, Mary Eppstein.

She will always be remembered for her zest for living and her courage in dealing with the challenges of 96 years on earth. Memorial Service will be held at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Saturday June 10th at 12 o'clock. GRAYSON, Judith Manning Judith Manning Grayson, Director of Teacher Education at University of Southern California (USC), died in an accident on May 31, 2000.

Born Judith Ann Manning on October 3, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, she was a graduate of Stanford University and received her Masters in 1960. She married Kenneth Grayson of New York in 1967. Mr. Grayson died in 1969. She received her PhD in Special Education from the USC in 1973 and was committed to the education of minds and diligently worked to that goal with a sparkle in her eyes and always a smile.

She will be missed. Surviving are her parents, Hamor and Eleanor Manning of Whittier, sister, Linda Cowman and husband Robert; niece, Jennifer and nephew, James, all of Redondo Beach, Calif. Kevin Green; Orange County Industrial Developer Kevin Green, 45, Orange County developer of industrial properties. Scion of the family that founded and operates the Los Angeles-based Seeley Co. real estate brokerage, Green grew up in Hancock Park and attended the private Harvard School and USC. He began his career working for the family business, but soon formed his own Green Development firm, based in Newport Beach and specializing in industrial projects.

For the last decade he had worked with Rusty Turner and his Turner Development Corp. on projects created by the two firms. Known to friends and family as "Chief," Green was a forceful president of the more than Bayshores Community Assn. He led the group's opposition to a major expansion plan of the Balboa Bay Club in 1991, even though he was also an active member of the club. The father of two sons, Green coached several youth sports teams and served on boards of groups that support youngsters' activities.

On Friday in Newport Beach of brain cancer. David Stary-Sheets; Furniture Designer, Art Dealer David Stary-Sheets, 60, former creator of custom furniture who became an art dealer and expert on the California Regionalist movement. The son of premier Southern California realist painter Millard Sheets, he had operated Stary-Sheets Fine Art Gallery with his wife, Susan, for the last decade. First in Irvine and since 1996 in Laguna Beach, the gallery focused on his custom furniture and on work by the California Regionalist or California Style artists who worked largely in watercolors in the 1920s through '40s. Stary-Sheets became a prominent figure in the arts community- -lecturing, writing widely and acting as curator for the Realist painters.

The couple lent paintings from their own collection to boost new museums such as the Irvine Fine Arts Center in 1993 and in 1997-98 were curators of "California Style: 1930s and '40s." That exhibit, organized for the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, was also displayed at the Orange County Museum of Art and the Ventura AN ANNOUNCEMENTS MIRKO, Boskovich Born on April 3, 1917 in Stolac, Hercegovina, Croatia and passed away on Monday, June 5, 2000 in Glendale. Mirko is survived by his loving wife, Zora; her children John (Maria) Soldo and Rosann (Ken) Anderson and their grandchildren, Chris, Susie, Jennifer and Christy. He was the second youngest of 7 children born to Marko and Anica. Four of his brothers were killed in WWII and he has a sister, Lucia, living in Chicago and a brother Nickola in Argentina. Mirko was a well respected activist in the Croatian community of Southern California and was the president of the United Hercegovina Catholic Benevolent Society for over 25 years.

Born in Claremont, David Sheets was educated at the Webb School, Claremont Men's College, Chaffey College and San Diego State. He worked briefly as a loan officer and built custom homes before turning to designing and building furniture. In the 1970s he co-founded a furniture company, Woodworks Builds Dynamite Furniture, based in Ontario, Calif. Sheets hyphenated his surname after marrying Susan Stary in 1980. The couple, who started an art gallery when they lived in Northern California, were active in several arts and cultural groups in Orange County.

Angeles, passed away June 4, 2000 in South Pasadena. He grew up on the family estate in Holmby Hills and the family's El Conejo Ranch in Thousand Oaks. His father, George Gregson of Bisbee, AZ was an executive with the Janss Investment Corporation, extensive land developers in Southern California. His mother, Patricia Cluff Janss of Los Angeles was the sister of Edwin Janss, chairman of Janss Investment. Mr.

Gregson, a thoroughbred trainer whose best known horses included Gato Del Sol, 1982 Kentucky Derby winner, Kittyluck, Cat Girl, Love Smitten, Tsunami Slew and Super Diamond. He was a resident of Pasadena, who maintained a life long love affair with contemporary art, antiques, fine wines and a study of history, with a special affection for his native California. Mr. Gregson and his wife, Gail, were married in 1968. Gail Gregson is an accomplished show jumping rider and active in programs to rehabilitate and retrain former racehorses for use as pleasure mounts.

'The Gregsons' twin daughters, Brooke Gregson and Esme Sikie were born in 1970. Mr. Gregson is also survived by his sister, Patricia Millington. A memorial service for Edwin Gregson is scheduled for Monday, June 12, 11:00 A.M. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena.

KNOELL, Susan Marie A life-long educator, who made a career educating children in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, died on Friday, June 2, 2000 at Citrus Valley Hospice in Covina, CA. Diagnosed with cancer in 1994, Miss Knoll waged an aggressive battle against the disease, and never let it conquer her spirit.

Miss Knoell was born in Santa Monica, California on August 12, 1942, to William and Nita Knoell. She attended Notre Dame Academy in West Los Angeles before entering the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1960. Her undergraduate and graduate work was done at Mount Saint Mary's College in Los Angeles. During her career, Miss Knoll served as an elementary school teacher and principal at St. Rose of Lima in Maywood, St.

Timothy's in Los Angeles, St. Bernadine of Siena in Woodland Hills, St. Matthias in Huntington Park, and St. Joan of Arc in West Los Angeles. After she withdrew from the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1980, she became principal of St.

Madeline's Elementary School in Pomona. In 1986, she was appointed Supervisor of Schools for the Archdiocesan Department of Catholie Schools for the San Gabriel Region. In 1988, Miss Knoll began working with the Archdiocesan Education Foundation and Development Office, serving as Director of Development Programs and Foundation Relations, and facilitating the Archdiocesan Tuition Award Program until her illness. Admired and beloved by her students, colleagues, a wide circle of friends, and all who knew her, Miss Knoll is survived by brothers, Michael and Richard Knoell, sistersin-law, Robyn and Paula, and lifelong friend, Helen Ronan. Ward and Blanche Chandler Ward, moved to Los Angeles in 1888, and her father went on to help pass the bond issue that brought Owens River water to the area. Mrs.

Ward helped found the Ebell Club, the Friday Morning Club and the first nursery in Los Angeles. After attending the exclusive Marlborough School, Beatrice Ward went to UC Berkeley, where she was elected vice president of the newly formed Associated Students in her senior year, 1922-23. She married John Van Hoesen Challiss in 1926, lived briefly in Santa Barbara and then returned to Los Angeles, where she reared two daughters and, with her husband, founded the Windsor Square Assn. She also helped found the Hancock Park Art Council and was active in the Junior League of Los Angeles, which in 1993 gave her its Volunteerism Award for 51 years of community service. Challiss maintained a close association with Marlborough, earning its Woman of the Year Award in 1981.

But she never hesitated when she disagreed with school officials- vehemently opposing a planned expansion in 1988 that she felt would ruin the neighborhood.
