ISC Concert Choir To Perform Today Idaho State College's concert choir, directed by Wesley M. Harris, will make its first public appearance of the year today with the annual Christmas Candlelight Concert. Scheduled for 4 p.m. in Frazier hall, the program will open with an organ prelude by Rudolph F. Goranson, professor of music, followed by a group of traditinal carols sung by the choir, led by student director Sam Slimple" Boise, a candlelight processional and sever- eral concert carols.

Featured in the candlelight processional will be the Latin Hymn "Adeste Fidelis." Leading off the choir's arrangements of concert carols will be "In the Beginning Was the Word," fea- hireing baritone soloist Detn Funk, Aberdeen. Featured in "Prophecy and Annunciation" will be a quartette composed of soprano Darlen Roberts, Moreland; contralto Grace Belville, Shelley; tenor Michael, Sandpoint, and basso Mike Jenkins, Hysham, Mont. Other concert carols to be presented include Bach's "Behold Thy Cradle," "To Us Is Born Immanuel" by Michael Praetorius, "Jesus The Christ Is Born," "Christus Foetus Est," "Christmas Roundelay" and "Christmas Night." Miss Roberts and Miss Bellville will be soloists for the choir's arrangement of "He Shall Feed His Flock" and the Negro Christmas carol "Behold the Star" will feature Slimple as tenor soloist and a sextette composed of Miss Roberts; Rose Ann Deeg, American Falls soprano; Jessie I.ovell, Ririe contralto; Henry Anderson, Thornton tenor; Mike Osburn, Honolulu baritone, and Jerald Osburn, Bol- linsham. basso. Completing the program will be "From the Eastern Mountains," "Gloria," "Canticle to Peace" and "Silent Night." The latter number will feature Stimple as chimes player and soprano Janice Larson, Firth, in the descant.

Accompanists for theprogram will be Terry Anderson, Twin Falls, and Carol Ann Pratt, Bancroft, Donald Asboe, assistant professor of speech-drama, is in charge of staging and lighting. The concert will be somewhat unique, according to Harris, in that music will be continuous throughout the performance. A piano continuo composed and played by Anderson will be used between choral numbers so ihere will be no periods of silence. The candlelight concert which each year marks the beginning of the choir's concert season, is cosponsored by the ISC Religious Council. Girl, 15, Has Tresses Snipped A A CITY (AP)-Mary Beth Evans, after 15 years of letting, her hair grow, finally had it cut short Friday and only daddy was upset.

"My head feels so light," Mary Beth exclaimed after a hairdresser snipped off the inches she had accumulated since birth. "Her daddy was more upset," said Mrs. Austin J. Evans who, with Mary Beth's sister, Susan, 10, witnessed the divestiture. Evans, a hospital administrator from Hays, couldn't bear to watch and went off to a meeting.

What brought on the decision to cut Mary Beth's hair was the difficulty she had taking care of it. The braids had to be washed in the kitchen sink, they were so long, and often became tangled in the drain. Washing took four hours because the hair had to be towel- dried. An electric dryer snarled it. "Every morning before school we had to comb, brush and braid the hair," Mrs.

Evans added. "We worked up a system so it took just 10 minutes." Veterans to Get Christmas Gift Most Idaho veterans in school under the Korean GI Bill will get a Christmas present frm Uncle Sam in the form of extra-early mailings of the GI allowance checks this month, Loryn E. Kopan, Director of the Boise Veterans Administration Center, said today. A special time-saving system will be used to get GI checks in the mail before most veteran-students go home (or the Christmas vacation. Usually, GI allowance checks are mailed around the 20th of each month.

But in Dcvember, many schools and colleges begin holiday vacations before that date. $8 Million Reactor To Be Constructed IDAHO FALLS (AP) -The Atomic Energy Commission plans construction next spring of an $3 million experimental beryllium oxide reactor at the National Reactor Testing Station near here. The planes flown by Ervin and Quamme were participating in a regular Air Defense Command training mission conducted by the 124th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron here, Gilbert said. The Sandahl house was badly damaged when the jet, armed with 24 live rockets, plowed into the attached garage, kitchan and living room and set the house afire.

Mrs. Sandahl, who was in the kitchen, said the ceiling started to come in on her and then there was fire in the dining room. Two neighbor men helped the stunned woman from the house.
