Open Fvenings Phone 2-5814 Wilmington's Most I January Meeting to Take Place of tbe Annual Luncheon Wilmington Area Girl Scout Council and the Leaders Association of the Delaware Scouts will hold a joint annual meeting on Thursday evening, Jan. 29. The meeting will take the place of the annual luncheon. Plans for the joint meeting were made yesterday at a meeting of the council at the Girl Scout headquarters, 1308 Delaware Avenue. Mrs.

Michael J. Callahan, com- i missioner, conducted the meeting and appointed Mrs. E. H. Cavanagh, Mrs.

C. Judd Stewart, Mrs. Walter C. Wheeler and Mrs. C.

C. Gam-t mons as committee to direct the annual cookie sale in March. I Discussion of plans for girls' serv ice groups to aid in civilian defense also took place during the meeting. Programs for both senior and intermediate Girl Scouts will include adequate training in first aid, child care, nutrition, home nursing, and messenger service. The group also decided to offer to the chairman of civilian defense the use of their country center and facilities if they are needed.

Election of officers will take place in the next council meeting on Thursday, Jan. 22. A nominating committee appointed last month includes Mrs. Clarence Underwood, Mrs. C.

C. Gammons, and Mrs. Clarence Brown. The committee arranging the joint annual meeting consists of Mrs. J.

Kennard Bailey, Mrs. Samuel H. Carothers, and Mrs. A. E.

Lindley. Union Church Class Hfis Christmas Party The Philathea Bible Class of Union Methodist Church held a Christmas party last night at the home of Mrs. Bertha M. Foster, 804 Harrison Street. Mrs.

Katherine Senn presided over the short business meeting. Plans were made to assist in all kinds of Red Cross work. The pageant "Coming of the Light" was presented by Mrs. Elma Fitzgerald, Mrs. Catherine Stevens, Mrs.

Grace H. Sanderson, Mrs. Katherine Senn and Mrs. Ellen Abbott. Mrs.

Ruth Walker, Mrs. Lottie Hayman, Mrs. Reba Sanderson and Mrs. Edith Grimes were hostesses. Bible Class Members Have Christmas Party The Theta Delta Class of West Presbyterian Church School attended a Christmas party this week at the home of Mrs.

Oscar Munda, 1130 Jackson Street. A business session with Miss Ruth Ocheltree presiding preceded the party. Earlier in the evening the class members assisted with the mid-week service program at the church. Miss Frances Palmer sang, accompanied by Mrs. Lyda Graham.

Meadows Loses To Valley Forge Team at Traps Locals Practically Forfeit, 224 to 75, as Only Two 3Iembers Shoot The Meadows Gun Club practically forfeited its match with the Valley Forge Gun Club on Wednesday over the Valley Forge traps when Miss Ann Mason and Miss Anne Backus were the only representatives of the local club to appear. The score was 224. Valley Forge; 75, Meadows.

Miss Mason was high gun for the afternoon, breaking 43 of her fifty-targets. She broke the last twenty-five targets straight. Miss Backus, a novice shooter on the Meadows team, had a score of 27. Shooting for the Valley Forge team were Mrs. William A.

Wiedersheim II with a score of 47; Miss Gertrude Walker, 45; Mrs. F. W. Hancock, 45; Mrs. H.

S. Worrell, 44; Mrs. Henry Stevens. 43. On Wednesday also, the Merion Gun Club defeated the Wilmington Country Club Gun Club in a match over the Country Club traps by a score of 231 to 222.

This makes five straight victories for Merion. Mrs. E. H. Vare, was high scorer with 48 breaks to her credit.

Sioman. Mrs. E. C. Graesser, American Homes chairman, requested that members make a special effort to have Christmas decorations bright i and colorful and to have as nearly a normal Christmas as possible, Mrs.

M. T. Taylor spose of the i large quota of garments requested by the Red Cross and urged everyone, whether member or not, to secure garments and sew for her committee. Mrs. Lank, in charge of knitting, stressed the need of knitted garments and stated she could supply wool and directions for those who desired to knit at home.

Mrs. Galin Jordin explained the work being done at the Richardson Park School regarding defense against air raids. Mrs. Sioman gave the monthly international news quiz. Mrs.

Fitchett, president, announced that hostesses from the club would be on duty at the U. S. O. Center on Friday evening, Dec. 26.

The club will furnish refreshments on that evening. Mrs. C. M. Lowe, chairman ot music, was in charge of the Christmas party which included a piano solo, Handel's "Largo," by Mrs.

Lowe, followed by vocal solos "Lords Prayer," "6 Holy Night," and "Jesus Bambino," by Miss Julia Taylor. Miss Mary Alice Pearson accompanied Miss Taylor and played for the group singing of Christmas carols. Mrs. Lowe read a short history of Christmas carols. The next meeting of the club will be held at the home of Mrs.

Leonard R. Reed, with Mrs. Graesser in charge of the program. Mrs. Ger-shon Starr and Mrs.

Reed will be co-hostesses. Middletown New Century MIDDLETOWN, Dec. 19 (Special). The New Century Club of Middletown held its Christmas party at Witherspoon Inn this week, with Mrs. Gilbert Nickel chairman, and Mrs.

John Heldmyer as co-chairman. A silver offering was taken to be added to the soldier Christmas campaign for gifts, after which bridge and five hundred were played, and refreshments served. Harrington New Century HARRINGTON, Dec. 19. The Harrington New Century Club met this week with Mrs.

S. M. Williams piesiding. The club contributed $5 to the fund to assist with Christmas baskets. Their usual donation of Christmas boxes to five children at Stcckley Colony, also was made.

A number of the club members are dressing dolls for underprivileged children. Mrs. Grover Frear, vice-president of the federation of clubs for Kent County, spoke briefly. The program for the afternoon was then presented by Mrs. Ei nest Raughley assisted by Mrs.

Paul Hawk, Mrs. Robert Green and Mrs. Charles Hopkins. Mrs. Raughlev read a paper written by-Mrs.

J. W. Burgess, national chairman of fine arts. Mrs. Norris Adams read Christmas Scripture from St.
