Broncos Choke Panthers Rally For 51-48 Win BLACKFOOT (AP) Blackfoot held off a last minute rally here Friday night to defeat Snake River, 31-48 and earn its first victory In three starts. Both teams finished with IS field goals, but (he Broncos converted 15 of 3G free throws while the Panthers hit on 12 of 22 in a game that saw 51 fouls called. Blackfoot was leading 12-9 afl ter an uninspired first quarter, but the Broncos caught fire in the second period and hit four of their first five attempts from' the field on the way lo a 23-13 lead. That was all the Blaektoot scoring in the half, however, as Joe Gneiting hit four baskets and two free throws to single handedly knot the score at half, time, 23-23. Blackfoot's Tom Packer opened the second half with a three- point play and the Broncos never trailed again, as they built a 36-28 margin at (he quarter turn.

Blackfoofs biggest lead was at 51-40 midway through the last stanza, but Brent Bowman and Jerald Jones chipped away at the margin while the Blackfoot shooters turned cold again. There wasn't enough time left for the Panthers, though, and Kirk Anderson's basket at the final buzzer still left them three short of victory. Gneiting topped all scorers with 15 points, while Packer picked up 13 for Blackfoot and K.C. Jones added 10.
