Page 4 Springer News Bulletin February 16, 1996 Julia San Roman, age 93, was called to be with our Lord on February 4th. She was born on July 30, 1902 in Doctor Arroyo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of the late Francisco and Felipa Leija. She was a long time resident of Raton and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dario San Roman in 1961, a son Arthur "Toots" Lopez in 1949, a daughter Amelia Judy in 1941, and a brother, Arturo Leija in 1979. She is survived by daughters: Gloria San Roman of the home in Raton, and Nellie Avila and husband Bernard of North Hollywood, CA; sons: Isadora "Porky" San Roman and wife Betty Jean of Tucumcari, David "Baldi" San Roman and wife Conchita, Gilbert San Roman and wife Betty, all of Raton, Pete San Roman and wife Laura of Chino Hills, CA, Richard San Roman and wife Bernice of Whittier, CA, and Joseph "Chonkie" San Roman and wife Anna of Torrance, CA. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Nephews: Francisco, Jose Guadalupe, Arturo, Benjamin, Jesus and Roberto; and very special niece Anita Maurillo and husband Santiago also survive. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary was held on February 6th at St.

Joseph's Catholic Church, recited by the Legion of Mary. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection was held on February 7th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father James L. Vance as the Celebrant. Burial followed in Fairmont Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Mac, Aaron, Richard, John, Junior, and Bobby San Roman. Honorary Pallbearers were: Arthur, Terry and Stephen San Roman. Arrangements for Julia San Roman were under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home. Esther Grace Jeffers, age 90, passed away on February 2, 1996 at Miners' Colfax Medical Center in Raton. Esther was born September 9, 1905, the daughter of Homer Melchoir Dreher and Ida Mae Roush Dreher.

Esther is survived by her son, Edward Nelson (Sonny) and his wife Mary Ann Jeffers of the Jeffers Ranch East of Springer; four daughters: Viola Mae Jeffers of the Jeffers Ranch, Norma Grace and her husband Jack Newton of Springer, Connie Lou and her husband Billy Gene Allen of Scott City, KS, Shirley Anne and her husband Buddy Scott of Springer; one sister Rose Clara Drake of Santa Monica, CA; thirteen grandchildren: Edward Nelson (Eddie) III and his wife Lynda Gayle Jeffers of Miami, NM; Fara Jean and her husband John Garcia of Springer, Lehmer Dee and his wife Dawn Renee Jeffers of Miami, NM, Joe Seth Jeffers of Denver, CO, Casey Lee and his wife Gayanne Jeffers of Cimarron, James Landon Newton of Belen, NM, Nelson Troy Newton of Clearwater, FL, Tammy OBITUARIES Ann Newton of Phoenix, AZ, Douglas Gene and his wife Francesca Allen of Scottsdale, AZ, Brenda Sue Allen of Macon, GA, Jeffrey Scott and wife Windy Allen of Council Bluffs, IA, Jennifer Kay Allen of Clovis, NM, and William Price Mclntyre of Springer; nine great-grandchildren: Amanda, Andrew, Meghan, Jamie, Sonny Lucchese Jeffers, Courtney Allen, Kasey and John Paul Garcia, Tristan and Dakota Newton. Esther was preceded in death bv her husband Edward Nelson Jeffers, Sr. in 1972, whom she had married June 25, 1924 in lola, KS and one daughter, Dorothy Jean an two granddaughters, Jerry Lee and Lori Langrone. Esther attended Normal School in Emporia, KS an then was a teacher in Onion Creek, KS for two years. After her marriage, Ed came to New Mexico in 1925 and Esther followed a few months later with their baby Viola Mae on the train.

They started ranching REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR OFFICE SPACE NEEDED IN ROY The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) seeks to lease renovated or newly constructed office space for the Magistrate Court in Roy, NM not later than September 30, 1996 (an earlier date is preferred). Approximately 1500 square feet of usable space within the city limits of Roy are required. Weekly maintenance and utilities must be provided. The term of the lease will be a maximum of eight years or a minimum of four years vrtth an option to renew for an additional four years. The leased space must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, other federal and state regulations, and New Mexico building codes.

The leased space must be cabled for telecommunications and computers. NM 87503 Telephone: (505)-827-4826 FAX: (505J-827-4824 Proposals are due by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 12. 1996, Mountain Standard Time. and raising their family in Pittsburgh, NM, which was in the Farley, NM area.

Esther was an active member in the community, well loved by family and friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springer, the Silver Spur CowBelles, New Mexico CowBelles, American National Cattle Women, Antique Club, Farley Extension Club, and the New Mexico Cattle Growers. Esther was the Silver Spur CowBelle of the year in 1994 and Grand Marshall of the Colfax County Parade in 1994. Funeral services for Esther Jeffers were held on February 5th in the First United Methodist Church in Springer, Reverend James Brunner officiated. Interment followed in the Fairmont Cemetery in Raton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Springer, the American Cancer Society or a charity of their choice. The arrangements for Esther Grace Jeffers were under the direction of the Errington Memorial Chapel. Wayne Williams, age 78, passed away February 5th in the Casa Del Sol nursing home in Raton. He was born September 4, 1917 in Beaver City, NE to Earl and Verna Williams. He is survived by his wife Mary Belle Williams of Raton, two daughters: Patricia and her husband Don Johnson of Arvada, CO, and Jane and her husband Terry Taylor of Raton; three sisters: Helen Underwood of Lake wood, CO, Donna Nitzel of Holdrege, NE, and Estella Redger of Mesa, AZ; three brothers: Floyd Williams of Theodosia, MO, Randall Williams of Huntsville, AL, and Charles Williams of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
