Although she. had been suffering from hardening of the arteries and heart trouble for some time, she was not confined to her bed until yesterday. Mrs. Cranston was Miss Martha Churchman, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. Henry L.

Churchman, of New Castle. Following their marriage. 59 years ago. Mr. and Mrs.

Cranston resided on a farm near Newport for about two years. Later they moved to Newport, where they have since made their home. She was a pioneer in the years vhen women first pleaded for the use of the ballot. For many years she the president of the Wilmington Suffrage Alliance, and at the time of her death was honorary president of the Delaware League of Women Voters and had always taken an activ part in the work. She also was well known in V.

C. T. U. circles and for some time served as president of th-2 Newport Branch of the association. Among other organizations.

Mrs. Cranston was a member of the Women's Club of Newport. She attended Friends Meeting at Fourth and Wcs itreets. Great-Grandchild Three Weeks Old. On December 14.

1918, Mr. and Mrs. Cranston celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and last December they again entertained friends honor cf their 58th anniversary. Mr. Cranston, a former wholesale lumber dealer of this city, and at one time a member of the Legislature, is vice-president of the Newport National Bank and president of the Newport Building: and Loan Association.

Mrs. Cranston, who was 80 years old. is survived by her husband, four children, Ja.ncs Cranston, of Philadelphia; Mrs. Berths Philips, of th.s city; MissHelen R. Cranston, who resides at home, and J.
