Tha best screen tntsrtalnment thla town has seen and heard ta a good many weaka ta to ha found tn. tha picture "Alexander's Ragtime Band," welded together sad bolstered up by 22 (count 'em!) ef Irving- Berlin's older melodies and a couple of new ones.

From the reminiscent strains ef "Everybody's Doing It" ef 1911 vintage te tha tender "Easter Parade" of 1933, the picture ta a continuous pleasure, unalloyed by the circumstance that four ef the five central characters evidently did not age month la something like 25 yeara. Berlin la the real star of "Alex ander's Ragtime Band," although -Its nominal star-players do eoroe compelling miming. Tha richest de-, light to this listener was the singing of "Pack Up Tour Sins and Go to the Devil," "Everybody 8tep" and "Heat Wave" by Ethel Mer-', man, who la a never-falling source of Joy to us. Not far behind, how- ever, was Jack Haley's interprets- -tlon of "Oh, How Hate to Get Up in the Morning." To list all the merits of the picture at the Paramount would take more space than Is at our disposal It Is Indorsed without qualification. TRRKK LOVKS HAS NANCY.

This la Janet Gaynor's first, movie since "A Star Is but' the productions are "not all alike. There's nothing to cry about la "Three Loves Has Nancy; it's a screamingly good comedy. It returns Robert Montgomery, after hla commendable vacation into the drama of "Yellow Jack," to the debonair characterisation for which he Is most popular, and he Is capably abetted by Franchot Tone, who also has done this kind' of thing before. It also Involves Miss Gaynor aa -a Southern girl seeking her errant" fiance in New Tork; and one of Its best comedy momenta concerns her Innocent attempt to be friendly te a wolf in dinner jacket who thinks she's an easy pick-up. Mont-' gomery and Tone have busied themselves about her welfare, and she Is finally induced to forget her original love.

phosphorus in the liver of Levi Oakley, whom his wife, Mrs. Gladys Oakley, has confessed to poisoning on August 23, waa re ported to Sheriff Perry Burnett to day in a letter from State Chemist E. H. Holman. Holman's statement said "the am monium molydate and ammonium magnesium phosphate test on the liver showed positively that phosphorus was present." Holman also stated that one to two-tenths of a grain of phosphorus would prove fatal.

Oakley's body was exhumed at Watertown on September 2, five days after he had been buried. He died August 27, presumably from the poison dose of rat and roach paste which his wife said she put in his coffee the morning of August 2i. Mrs. Oakley, and James P. Bar- bee, with whom the Oakleys made their home in Watertown, are held in the Wilson County jail on charges of first degree murder.

Mrs. Oakley's confession impli cated Barbee as having had knowledge of the poisoning, and stated that they planned to get married the day after her husband was buried. Barbee has continuously denied any part in the poisoning. LOWEST BID Nashville Firm Gets Contract For Sumner Courthouse GALLATIN, Sept. 9 (Spl) W.
