ITOIDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1924 IOWA CITY PRESS-CITIZEN OCIETY, --PHONE 864-- Qlve Thanksgiving Cotillion Prominent among the events of Thanksgiving day season id the dancing party of the Nonpareil club at Varsity hall, last evening. The program which was augges- tire ot the First Thanksgiving of the Pilgrims included a number of feature and favor numbers. About sixty couples were present, Includ ing members and their guests. Fans, umbrellas, aprons, opera bags of pop corn and balloons were given as favors to ladies, and the men received canes, bow ties and comic hats. The novelty num bers were especially clever, a charity race with kiddy-kars being an outstanding feature.

The committee in charge of tho party was composed of Mr. Mrs. D. W. Crum, Mr.

and Mrs. A. Bowman, Mr. and Mrs. Erneat L.

Bright, an3 Mr. and Mrs. G. Swails. Kerf-Northup Miss Margie B.

Northup, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin North' up, of Villisca, Iowa, became the bride of Mr. Joseph W. Kerf at a pretty ceremony at the seven o'clock mass at St Wenceslaua church, yesterday morning, Father A.

L. Panoch officiating. Mr. and Edward Flynn, attended the young people. The bride wore a becoming gown of tan chenille crepe with accessories to match Her flowere were a corsage arrangement of Killaraey roses and narcissus.

Mrs. Flynn wore brown silk crepe with accessories to match. After the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. A. Kerf, 1130 East Church street covers being arranged for immediate relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Kerf will be at home after December 7th, on a farm southeast of Iowa City. Guests at Davenport Wedding Mr. and Mrs.

Hogan attended the wedding of Miss Bernadine Welters, daughter of Mr. tad Mrs. John G. Walters ot Davenport, to Mr, John J. Jost, son of Mr.

and Mrs J. A. Jost of Preston, Iowa, yesterday morning at St. Joseph's church at Davenport Ries served bride at matron of honor, other attendants including Miss Marguerite Berg of Davenport and Miss Carol Cox of Rock Island as bridesmaids and little Miss Margaret Baggott as flower girl. Mr.

and Mrs. Jost will be at home at Davenport where Mr. Jost Is connected with the Standard Oil Staff. Mrs. Jost is well known in Iowa City where she has visited frequently.

Gatens and with Miss Mary Lee 3.3 organist, the choir of St. Patrick's parish will give a musical piogram at the church auditorium on Sunday evening, November 30, at eight dusts and quartet and chorus numbers will feature the recital. University Club Dancing Party Featuring this week's calendar of the University club is the informal dancing party to be given at the club rooms on Friday evening, November 28th, from eight-thirty to eleven o'clock. Evening Surprise Party Miss Naomi Sleichter was surprised by a number of young people at her home at 509 South Lucas street, last evening, for a Thanksgiving party. The hours were spent informally, refreshments being served as the concluding feature. --s-West Lucas Sewing School Members of the West Lucas township sewing school met Tues- fiay at the home of Mrs. Oliver Furst and continued the series of lessons unJer the direction of the extension division of the Iowa State college.

Fourteen members were in attendance. Friendship Club Card Party Members of the Friendship club met Wednesday evening at the Edward W. Riley home at 302 Muscatine avenue, with all present. and Mrs. John Ludwlc entertained at Thanksgiving Day din ner, last evening at their home on Sixth avenue. Card games furnished entertainment during the remainder ot the evening with Mr. James Kahela and Mist Rose Knoblock winning the honors for score. The guests included Mr.

and Mrs. James Kabela of New- Port, Mr. Richard Vanderberg. Mr. Henry Aldershof, Miss Mary Krupna, Miss Knoblock and Miss Rose Knoblock.

Haakenson-Campbell Mr. and Mrs. Campbell ot Oxford, Iowa, announce the marriage of their daughter, Elsie, to Mr. Carl M. Haakenson, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Alfred Haakenson, o' Willistoa, N. the ceremony taking place November 16th, at Sidney, Montana. The bride was graduated from the Cosgrove blub school and from Coe college. She bad been teaching in Montana dur ing the past year.

Reece and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wise and family pleasantly surprised their parents, Mr. and Edwin Hay, 825 Page street, Thanksgiving noon, with a basket dinner. During the afternoon, music and games offered entertainment.

and Mrs. Frank Ratcheffe Senska, long stationed at Mission Americano, Rio Benito, Guinea Espanola, Africa, have sailed via Bordeaux, France, from Duala, Africa, and are to be back in Iowa about Christmas time. Dr. Senska was graduated In medicine in 1911, and has been a medical missionary in Africa during the past three years. His wife's mother is Mrs.

W. raid, of Eldora, and she and Mrs. Senska are well-known in Iowa City. The doctor and his wife are accompanied by their daughter, Frances Maude. Dr.

Senska'e health has not been ultra-good during Che last year, and hence he was especially entitled to the furlough granted every three years or so to the white people serving in Africa. ttey cannot remain in that country, whose climate rums the health of "white folks," who stay there any really lengthy period.
