Bean, 26, a 210-pounder from Lakeland, who said he loved the 82-degree heat as he toured the the Waialae Country Club course. His second-round total of 134 ued him with first-round co-leader George Burns, who shot a 69 after opening with a 65. The two have a one-stroke lead over Frank Conner.

Leonard Thompson, who also had a 65 Thursday, carded a 41 on his first nine yesterday to put himself out of contention with 76141. Bean said he "missed some short putts and could have been better, but I'll never complain about a 63." His 61 in the Atlanta tournament last year tied for the season's low in the PGA. Four other golfers have shot 63s over Waialae. Burns did it last year along with tournament winner Hubert Green. This time Green shot a 76 on his first round and even his 69 Thursday was not good enough for him to TELEVISION TENNIS 10 a.m.-(29) WCT Challenge Cup match between Johan Krlek and Hans Glldemelsier al-Montreal (taoe) 3 P.m.-(IO) Semifinals of Grand Slam of Tennis al Boca Raton.

(AP) Jane Blalock ohot a course-record 66 yesterday to take a five-shot lead after the second round of the $100,000 Ladies Professional Golf Association tournament here. Blalock had six birdies and no bogeys as she broke the Tumberry Isle Country Club mark of 68 set last year by Pat Bradley and Alice Miller.

The veteran pro was eight under par on the par-72 course going into today's third round. Defending U.S. Open champion Jerilyn Britz was five shots behind after carding a 2-under 70 Friday for a 141 total. LPGA SCORES Jane BiaiocK 70-66-136 Plagued by neck problems two years ago, Ron Bianco went to an orthopedic surgeon in Seminole, where he has been residing since 1972. The surgeon, after examining the X-rays, asked the former University of Delaware football captain when did he break his neck.

Bianco, who lettered in 1962-63-64, captaining the Hens his senior ear, was astounded. I never broke my neck," the former Conrad High three-letterman (baseball, basketball, football) told the surgeon. you have a fracture. See, here 3t is, right on your X-ray," the surgeon pointed out. Then, Bianco thought back to his senior year at Delaware.

JJ I was injured throughout preseason practice that year. I complained if a knee and neck injury. I still Jremember all the coaches and Roy Rylander (trainer) looking at me Sfunny. I got the feeling that they thought I was faking it. But I was really injured.

Two weeks after the Season ended, I had cartilage removed. I had a bad season that "year. Now, as I look back, I wish I played." 1 Every now and then, the pain in ihe neck region surfaces and he has Jo wear a neck brace. The only time he can recall injuring his neck was at Delaware in 1964. Did he ever think about suing the University of Delaware? "Yeah, I thought about it in the past," he said, quickly adding: "Hey, you're not going to put that in the paper, are you? I don't want to stir up things." Bianco, a 1961 All-State tackle at Conrad, who operates a thriving business with his father-in-law Paul Chadick Sr.

in Seminole, also has Xnany pleasant memories about his football career at Delaware. He was on the 8-0 team of 1963 that won the Lambert Cup and the national small college football championship. His three varsity years were played under Coach Dave Nelson, now the school's athletic director. "One of the most prized possessions of those years I have with me, here in Florida. It's a football pen-.

and-pencil set, given to me my senior year for greatest contribution to the team. I value that award. "I also remember the outstanding assistant coaches Nelson had. One of the greatest was Tubby Raymond. He was the generator of all the enthusiasm and spirit we had during those good years of 1962 (7-2) and 1963(8-0).

"Irv Wisniewski was one of the nicest persons you'd want to meet. He never had anything bad to say. I think he really cared about the kids. "Mike Lude showed a lot of enthusiasm. He was one of the people who recruited me.

He left for Colorado when I was a soph. "Ed Maley got down to the kids' level, something Nelson couldn't dp because of his position. "Nelson had to uphold a high level and he did a fine job. He was one of the most organized persons I ever saw. He never displayed the enthusiasm the assistants did, but he had a knack for picking the right people to be his aides." Bianco still follows the Blue Hens.

"I watched them in the national (Division II) championship game on TV and every Sunday I checked the college scores in the paper to see how Delaware did. I try to keep up Jerilyn Brltz 71-70-141 Kathy Postlewait 71-71-142 Joyce Kazmiereskl 70-72-142 JoAnnWasham 70-72-142 Carolyn Hill 71-72-143 Judy Rankin 72-71-143 Silvia Berlolaccinl 69-74-143 DeobieMessev 70-73-143 Sandra Spuzich 70-74-144 Peggy Conlev 74-70-144 Julie Slanger 73-71-144 Bonnie Bryant 74-70144 Sandra Palmer 71-74-145 Mary Dwver 74-71-145 Clifford Ann Creed 75-70-145 Connie Chillemi 74-71-145 Sally Little 72-74-146 Kathy Young 73-73-146 Pal Meyers 75-71-146 Kathy McMullen 72-74-146 Patty Hayes 72-74-146 Nancy Lopez 77-69-146 Pal Bradley 76-70-146 Aqueduct roundup with them as much as I can." Right now, 6-foot-1 Bianco, who at 215 is only eight pounds over his Delaware playing days, is excitedly awaiting the arrival of the Sale-sianum School baseball team in his neck of the woods. The Sals will travel April 3 for Florida where they will spring-train and play three regularly scheduled games. One of the teams the Sals will play is Clearwater Catholic on Easter Monday. Bianco's 15-year-old son Ron a 6-foot, 170-pounder, plays shortstop for Clearwater Catholic, last year's Class AA state champions.

Young Ron is currently the leading-scorer on his school's jayvee basketball team. Ron Sr. noted that his two brothers-in-law, Paul Chadick Jr. and Mike Chadick, both former outstanding athletes, will be flying to Florida to catch the Catholic game. The two Chadicks played baseball at Sale-sianum under Coach Rev.

Robert Kenney. For them it'll be a reunion with their former high school mentor. But the Chadicks aren't saying if they will be rooting for their alma mater or their nephew on the Clearwater team. Paul Chadick who pitched for Sallies and Delaware, now lives in New York City, where he models men's clothing. His brother Mike, a University of Maryland product, resides in Washington, D.C.

The senior Bianco predicts Clearwater will beat the Sallies and his son will got-for-4. Unlike his illustrious father, young Ron has by-passed football for basketball and baseball. "But he is a good football player," said the father. "When he was 12 he led the Pinellas County Youth Football League in rushing." Michael, 12, is Bianco's other son. He attends Seminole Middle School where he plays varsity basketball and volleyball.

The school has no baseball team. Last year, in Little League play, he posted a 12-1 pitching record and led the league in homers with 14. The senior Bianco has a direct line to tout his two sons to the University of Delaware baseball program. His college roommate was Bruce Car-lyle, current Blue Hens' assistant baseball coach. Bianco's wife Nina is the daughter of his business partner Paul Chadick one of the greatest basket ball players to ever come out of Wilmington.

"We live about 10 minutes apart," said Ron Sr. "My home, a three-bedroom, Spanish-style rancher, is situated between St. Petersburg and Clearwater. Each spring I get to watch the Phillies, Mets and Cardinals work out." For Ron Bianco, there are many pleasant and wonderful memories of Delaware and his playing days at Conrad and at the U. of but he is very happy with where he's now living and at what he's doing (selling sporting goods and coaching Little League baseball and football).

"There's only one thing in my life I regret," he mused. "One time, Coach Tubby Raymond said if I did well in school and came out and wanted to coach I could be a fairly decent coach on either the high school or college level. Today, I some times regret I didn't follow his advice." Lazy F. Ranch's French Colonial, winner of the 11-16-mile Royal Palm Handicap Jan. 26 in his first start since November, will try for his second straight grass-stakes victory at Hialeah when he meets 12 rivals in the 13-16-mile Bougainvil-lea Handicap.

He will carry 119 pounds, one less than Houdini and one more than Old Crony. Santa Anita will feature 4-year-olds and up in the 1 Vi-mile, Arcadia Handiap on the grass, with 12 entered including Balzac and First Prayer, 122 each, and Silver Eagle, 120. In other stakes, Image of Reality, 120, and Power Room, 118, top a field of 16 fillies and mares for the 5 Vi -furlong, Camilla Urso Handicap at Golden Gate Fields, and The Cool Virginian, 119, spots eight other Maryland-breds from four to 14 pounds for the 11-16-mile Goss L. Stryker Handicap at Bowie. Maryland women win COLLEGE PARK, Md.

(AP) -The top four teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Tournament survived their first round games yesterday, three of them having very little trouble against out-classed opponents. In the afternoon games, first-seeded N.C. State trounced Georgia Tech 99-48, and Maryland, second-seeded, pounded Wake Forest 100-49. Later, Clemson nipped Virginia 78-76 and fourth-seeded North Carolina blew out Duke 85-63. North Carolina, now 17-9, led all the way, and was paced by Deanna Thomas's 17 points.

Duke, 11-11, was led by Lisa Warren's team-high 12 points. Entries First Post 12:30 (EST) 4YO up, lmiA70vds. Entries and results from First Post 12:30 (EST) 4YO UP, ll-16ml. By The Associated Press Several members of what promises to be a topsy-turvy division the 1980 3-year-old class will be featured in two stakes races today, just three days after one of the division's leaders, Rockhill Native, finished a badly beaten third in the Bahamas Stakes at Hialeah. The best of the 3-year-olds in action today appears to be Degenerate Jon, who runs in the lVfe-mile Lucky Draw at Aqueduct. In his last two starts, Degenerate Jon, a grey colt owned by B.K. Schwartz, finished third, beaten sixth lengths by Colonel Moran in the six-furlong Rockway at Aqueduct Jan.

13, then won the 1 1-16-fnile Count Fleet by a half-length over Colonel Moran at Aqueduct Jan. 27. Degenerate Jon will carry 123 pounds, two more than Robert N. Lehmann's Googoplex, third in the Count Fleet. The others entered, each under 117 pounds, are Little Lenny, Don Daniello and Crusader RayK.

Crusader Ray K. and Don Daniello also are entered in the other Stakes for 3-year-olds, the seven-furlong, Sentinel at Keystone. They also are assigned 117 each for the Sentinel. High-weighted at 122 among 1 1 entered is Georgeandthedragon. Speed will be the word at Oak-lawn Park, where 14 sprinters will Contest 'the 5 Vz -furlong, King Cotton Handicap.

Heading the field are Kilmer and Perkins' Raymond Earl, 117, an eight-length winner of a six-furlong spring at Oaklawn last March; Amadelvil, 123; Braze and Bold, tl3, and Cabrini Green, 120.
