A Miami, Fla. -based investment group is considering asking the Federal Communication Commission to allow it to operate a commercial television station in Wilmington on Channel 61. Rich Citron, vice president of Wilmdel Broadcasting, yesterday said the group is conducting a preliminary study of the New Castle County area to determine the need for a local station, its projected financial viability and whether a suitable transmitting tower site would be available.

The same basic group, operating under another corporate name, has filed for a UHF chan- nel in Miami and is conducting aiuuies iasnviue ana iew Orleans similar to the one in Wilmington. Citron said the fact that Wilmdel is doing a local survey should not be taken as a firm indication it will apply for Channel 61 in Wilmington. It might well be "a coup.e of months" before a decision to apply or not is made, he said.
