Harvey Bird Baker. 36, of 422 South Governors Avenue, was arrested there yesterday in connection with the disappearance of 5,000 twelve-gauge shotgun shells from the Dover Army Air Field recently. Two soldiers of the Air Field also are in custody of military authorities in connection with the allegedly criminal diversion of the shells used for aviation training purposes. Baker, arrested by Deputy U. S.

Marshal W. Howard Lyell, was brought from Dover to Wilmington early last night, and arraigned before U. S. Commissioner Albert F. Polk on a charge of purchase and illegal possession of 300 of the Army shotgun shells.

The complaint was lodged with the commissioner by John W. Vincent, special agent tn charge of the Baltimore field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation yesterday. Commissioner Polk held Baker in $500 bail for a further hearing Dec. 8. In default of bail Baker was lodged in the New Castle County Workhouse last night.
