JANUARY 25, 1976 OLD HOME WEEK-It was old home week at Boise State University when BSU student Jan Barlow, right, 1437 Monte Vista, Pocatello, and State Rep. S. Albert Johnson got together at the school's annual legislative breakfast to visit and hear a speech by University of Utah president, David Gardner.

Sponsored by BSU and the Boise Chamber of Commerce, it drew 200 lawmakers, students and businessmen. This Week in Pocatello St. Anthony Guild The new mayor of Pocatello, Dr. Les Puree will speak on issues currently facing the city of Pocatello during a meeting of St. Anthony Hospital Guild Monday at 1:15 p.m.

The January session will be in the fifth floor Guild Room of the hospital. Dr. Puree is assistant professor of counseling at Idaho State University and is consultant for alcohol and substance abuse for the Department of Health and Welfare. A graduate of Pocatello High School, he has his bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from Idaho State University. He is on the board of directors for Idaho Cities and the Governor's Juvenile Justice Planning Commission.

Hostess will be Jessie Edgar, Blanche Lloyd and Pat Hunt. Pharmacy Student Auxiliary "First Aid in the Home" will be the subject of the meeting of the Idaho State University Pharmacy Student Auxiliary Wednesday. The meeting has been called for 7:30 p.m. in the Pharmacy Lounge on the Idaho State University campus. Legion A uxiliary In keeping with the Bicentennial theme, the American Legion Auxiliary will have a "Right to Freedom" program after a luncheon meeting Monday noon at the Memorial Building.

The Civil Preparedness and Children and Youth Committees are in charge of arrangements for the meeting. The speaker will be Handle Barthlome of the Pocatello Police Department, Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Rolls and beverage will be furnished by the officers. LDS Singles LDS Special Interest Singles' dance will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight in American Falls, 650 Pocatello Avenue, on Friday.

Do attend and join in the many mixers. No Arts-Crafts Classes There will be no arts and crafts classes Monday through Friday of this coming week at the City Recreation Building, 1600 N. Hayes. Mrs. Carita Bunnell, arts-crafts director for the City of Pocatello, said the classes are being cancelled because the interior of the building is to be painted.

Classes will be resumed Feb. 2 on the following schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 12 noon; every afternoon, 1 to 4 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Eagles Lodge Three special events are on the schedule this week for the Eagles. On Monday the auxiliary will have an 8 p.m.

social meeting with Judy Sperry, Shirley Thorne and Denise Schmidt on the committee. Secret pals will be selected. There will be the third reading of a by-law change and balloting. On Tuesday the Retired Eagles Activities Club will meet at 8 p.m. with Vi and Willard Homer, Bill and Mary O'Connor on the committee.

On Saturday a two-day district meeting will start with a snow machine party. Those attending will leave the Eagles Hall at 10 a.m! A steak fry will be held at 6:30 p.m. with reservations requested by Doris Huntington at 232-4514. There will be a 9 p.m. dance with live music.

Mrs. Betty Anderson, president, announced that Mrs. 8 Lauise Cooper, -Mrs. Julia Oisen and Mrs. Margaret Pauisen have been designated as Pocateilo's first life members.

Mrs. Anderson said the local club is the only one in the 8 region that nas not had life members. This designation goes to women who have 15 years of continuous Soropt'mist membership, who are retired and voting rights, they wiil be eligible to attend all the 8 organization's activities BPW Urged To Stress Equal Rights for Women Recognition of charier members of the Business and Professional Women's Club was the highlight of the January meeting of the organization. President Agnes Marley read a short, fascinating report of the beginning of the association. Many women, still living in Pocatello and charter members, were working for equality for women in 1920.

At this meeting, more than fifty vears later, the membership was urged to express its continuing emphasis on securing equal rights for all human beings, so that the work of the charter members will not have been in vain.
