PAGE FOURTEEN IOWA CITY PRESS-CITIZEN THURSDAY, JANUARY 6, 1927 FRIENDS HOLD WATCHPARTY Springdale Church Scene of Family Dinner and Social Friday Night SPRINGDALE, Jan. 6-- The membership and friends of the Friends church enjoyed a family night at the church last Friday night. A bountiful dinner was served. The occasion was also in the nature of a watch night party seeing the old year go out an the new one ushered in. Everyone reports a vci.v uiyv auu joyable evening spent together.

Miss Clara Dauber from Tipton was a guest in the Atkins home on Nsw Year's day. Mrs. E. H. Dunham from Mt.

Ayr is a guest in the W. N. Phelps Some. Mrs. Dunham is a first cousin of Wm.

Phelps and it has been a period of 63 years since the two had met and the visit is a very enjoyable one. We are glad to report that Mr. Phelps is recovering after his serious Illness and is now able to be up and dressed each day. Mr. and Mrs.

George Eves had as guests on New Year's'day, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzen from Tijton, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eves and two sons and Mr.

and Mrs. W. H. Maxson. Watch Night Party.

The Young peoples Class of the M. E. church were very pleasantly entertained at a watch night party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.

M. Gray on Friday evening. There 24 in attendance and the occasion was very enjoyable. Delicious refreshments were served during the evening. Miss Dorothy Negus returned to CS tA su-nie her in the University of Chicago after a ten days holiday vacation.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Torn and little child returned to town Monday after spending the holiday vacation with relatives in Burlington. Miss Anna Christensen is teaching tLe primary departments in the absence of Miss Minnie Pearson is now recovering from a recent operation. Mr.

and Mrs. Ed Anderson entertained on New Year's day; Mr. and Mrs. N. P.

Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Albln and little son from West Branch. Mr. and Mrs.

Edwin Anderson from Iowa City and Mr. and Mrs, Arthur Jensen and family. Rev. Harvey Wright, pastor of the Friends church held special services three nights last week; for young people, the services being of the nature of a study hour. They were very helpful to everyone present.

Clyde Barnett ana son ot Luverne have been visiting the letter's parents, Mr. and Mrs Anton Dvorak. Mr. Barnett has returned to his home while Mrs. Barnett remained for a longer visit.

Lingle, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Lingle, Mr. ana Mrs. James Prochaska and daughter, Mr.

and Mrs. Chris Reif and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reif and daughter Jennie and Barbara were Sunday guests at the Reif Bros: home. Mr.

and Mrs. Jos. G. Raim and daughter Irene visited the latters sister Mr. and Mrs.

Lawrence Fergusen at Mechanicsville. Clara Klema of Cedar Rapids came Tuesday for a few days visit with her aunt, Mrs. Frank Parizek. Anthony, John and Agnes Zen- Jshek and Mr. Martin Kuncl drove to Cedar Rapids Monday.

Mr! and Mrs. Elmer DeVanlt and daughter Bernlce and son Omar were New Tear's day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Leidich. Mr.

and Mrs. Frank Parlzek visited Mr. and Mrs. Anton Dvorak near Ivanhoe Sunday. Mrs.

Antonlette Breza entertained at a goose dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Edd Reinhard and daughter Helen. Mr. and Mrs.

George Kolda, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Noska and, Joseph Unlck. pinnocle was played In Mr. and Mrs.

Schueyler Zeller and Mrs. Mary Keifer were guests and Mrs. Bert Keifer at North Liberty. New Years guests of Mr. and Mrs.

Wm. Lingle were Mr. and Mrs. Chensky of Iowa Mr. and Mrs.

Joseph Krob and family of Lisbon and Mr. and Mrs. Fred See and family. John and Agnes Zenishek had their tonsils removed at Cedar Rapids. They returned the same day to their home and are getting along nicely.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Mohn and children Betty and Billy were Sunday dinner guests in the parental Joseph Crofter home at Lisbon. Miss Martha Crofter who has been spending the week with her sister Mrs.

Mohn accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parizek visited Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Becicka near Ely Sunday. Mrs. Charles Escott was a shop- per in Cedar Rapids Monday. Mr. and Mrs.

Joseph Chaloupka, Sr. and daughter Louise and son Edward visited at the Charles Miller home near Ely Sunday, Mrs. Chaloupek's mother who is staying at the Miller home is quite ill with bronchitis and Mr. Miller is also a victim of the grippe. Mrs.

John Cilek has been battling the flu the past few days. Charles Bigwood returned Sunday evening from a several days visit in the parental Charles Foote home. Mrs. Bigwood remained for a longer visit. Mr.

and Mrs. J. W. Kadlec and children, Joseph, Doris, Mae, George and Charles, were visitors Sunday evening at the Wesley Kadlec home. Mr.
