Contests Outlined For Arts Festival Miss Pauline Ellis of Delmar is chairman of junior contests in the state the week of the Delaware Festival of the Arts, May 2 to 16, by the National Federation of Music Clubs. These contests, on a nationwide basis, are conducted annually. In Delaware these contests are Judged under the rating system which gives to each contestant a placing of superior, good, or fair, according to the grade of work done by each.

A national certificate will be awarded to each winner of a superior rating, and state recognition will be given to the entrants making the other grades. In this way a child gets recognition for work done conscientiously during the year. Under the winner plan of judging, when winners are declared many losers are made. Unless good sportsmanship has been developed, contestants, parents, and teachers are disappointed. Tho junior contests of the Na-t'onal Federation of Music Clubs are wide in scope, covering practically ths entire field of music study for children up to 18 years of ae.

Classifications for instrumental and vocal solos and ensembles are stipulated. Original composition, musical essays and musicianship are considered. Outlines for contests In dancing and dramatic art are printed in the bulletin, prepared by authorities in their respective lines for the federation. Teachers and pupils are urged to write to Miss Ellis to learn the full details regarding the contests. Psychologist to Talk At Friends School Dr.
