The area involved includes the provincial capital of Semarang and the towns of Surakarta, Ku- dus, Djepara and Pemalang, Central Java was the scene of one of the biggest sweeps by the victorious Communist oriented Indonesian Nationalist party.

Nearly nine million out of ten million registered votes have been tabulated unofficially in Central Java with the Nationalists holding a million vote lead over each of the other three major parties--Hie Moslem Orthodox Radicals, the Communists and the pro West Moslem Masjumi. The Committee did not announce how many million Indonesians would have to vote again. The towns involved are mostly in the northern half of Central Java and might include us many as three million voters.
