Beginners and advanced students will learn the basics, plus explore new techniques. These classes use any medium: pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink, water color and more. Memorial contributions can be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 700 S. Massachusetts De Land, Fla. Laoma Gemmer Laoma Beryl Eastes Good Gemmer, 99, Greenfield, died Friday at her residence. Born Feb. 2, 1891, near Mt.

Comfort, she was the daughter of Fremont and Rosa (Russell) Eastes. She was a housewife. Mrs. Gemmer was member of Mrs. Gemmer a Faith United Methodist Church, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Hancock County Historical Society, 50 Plus Club, International Gideon Auxiliary, United Methodist Women and the hospital sewing group.

Survivors include son Gale H. Good, Greenfield; daughter Mrs. Harrold (Roberta Good) Chaney, Ohio; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.B. Good, in 1955, and her second husband, A.W.

Gemmer, in 1972. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Pasco Memorial Mortuary with the Rev. Joe Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery.

Smoke reported: Fire out on Edith A. Smith, 80, Franklin, died Thursday at Indiana Masonic Hospital, Franklin. Born Sept. 12, 1910, in Knightstown, she was the daughter of Ila Munson and Nevada (Maxwell) Reeves. Mrs.

Smith had attended Knightstown schools. She was involved in practical nursing for several years in private homes. Mrs. Smith also worked in the Indiana Masonic Home dispensary in 1966. She was a member of Eagles Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star Fidelity Chapter 58, Logansport.

Survivors include a niece Debbie Briar, Rushville. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown, with the Rev. John. Burhorn officiating.

State notes State will save millions INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Indiana will save $7.9 million in lease payments over the next 22 years as a result of the refinancing of some of the State Office Building Commission's existing indebtedness, Gov. Evan Bayh announced Friday. The commission agreed to sell $110.6 million of revenue bonds to a group of securities firms.

The proceeds of the sale will be used by the commission to pay off bonds issued in 1987 to construct the new State Office Building. The commission's bonds are backed by lease payments made by the state. The refinancing replaces the revenue bonds with interest rates of 8 percent and higher with revenue bonds with interest rates of less than 7 percent. Schools to get leeway INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Schools will have more leeway in determining how many hours students must spend in class under a policy approved by the State Board of Education but opposed by State Superintendent of Public Instruction H. Dean Evans.

Under the new policy approved 6-4 Thursday, students still must attend class 180 days. Fire kills two NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) Officials say a fire Friday morning in New Castle that killed two teenagers was accidental, and may have been caused by careless smoking.
