Kane; director of business development nt Donald C.

Kane, 59, of Wilmingdied Tuesday of cancer in Christiana Hospital. Mr. Kane was named director of business development for the Delaware Development Office in 1985. He said he took early retirement from Hercules earlier that year hoping to start a second career outside the chemical industry. During his 36-year career with Hercules, he worked primarily in sales but spent two years as managing director of a Hercules company in Helsinki, Finland, and eight years with the company's operation in Brussels, Belgium.

He retired in 1985 as director of market communications. He received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1949 from Princeton University and did further study at Northwestern Universtity's International Management program in Burgenstock, Switzerland. Mr. Kane was a volunteer for United Way of Delaware and a member of St. Joseph on the Brandywine Catholic Church.

He was a member of Wilmington Country Club and Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club in Beach Haven, N.J. He is survived by his wife, the Emma A. Faulkner BALTIMORE Emma A. Faulkner, 77, of 209 W. 11th died Tuesday of heart failure in Lewes (Del.) Convalescent Center.

She had a home in Fenwick Island, Del. Mrs. Faulkner was a homemaker. She was a member of Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church, Baltimore, and attended Sound United Methodist Church near Selbyville, Del. She was a member and past matron of the Brooklyn Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Brooklyn.

Her husband, Earl died in 1983. There are no immediate survivors. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in McCully Funeral Home, 237 E. Patapsco Baltimore, where friends may call tonight from 7 to 9 and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Appleton MILLSBORO Robert Stuart Appleton, 48, of 10B Circle Drive, Orchard Manor, formerly of Claymont, died Tuesday after an apparent heart attack on the beach in Fenwick Island. Mr. Appleton was a tool and die maker for 28 years with Phoenix Steel Corp. He retired on disability three years ago. He was a member of Church of the Ascension, Claymont, the Masonic Corinthian Lodge 20, Wilmington, and the Elks and Moose lodges in Lewes.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia a son, John S. of Smyrna; and a brother, John S. Jr. of Wilmington. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday in Church of the Ascension, 3717 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, where friends may call from 10:15 to 10:45. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington. Harold F. McGinnis ELKTON, Md. Harold F.

McGinnis, 65, of 1440 W. Pulaski Highway, died Tuesday of respiratory failure in Christiana Hospital, near Stanton, Del. Mr. McGinnis, a training instructor at Aberdeen (Md.) Proving Ground for more than 20 years, retired in March. Before that, he was in the Army for nearly 23 years, retiring as a master sergeant.

He served in World War II and the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle; a son, Jeffery H. of Elkton; three daughters, Patricia E. Robinson Elk of Mills Elkton, and Elizabeth L. D.

Godin of Joyce Leftridge Bay View; his mother, Rachel L. McGinnis of Elkton; six grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Crouch Funeral Home, 127 S. Main North East, where may call tonight from 7 to 9.

Burial with full military honors will be in North East Methodist Cemetery. Henry A. Lewicki Henry A. Lewicki, 46, of 4510 Sandy Drive, Klair Estates, died Tuesday of complications from leukemia in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. Mr.

Lewicki was a firefighter for 22 years for the city of Wilmington, retiring in 1983. For the last three years, he was an inspector for the Delaware Division of Highways. He was a lifelong resident of Wilmington and a member of St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Delores Fuller; two sons, Henry E.

and Jonathan, both at home; two daughters, Deneen Speace of Middletown and Deenalyn Lewicki at home; three brothers, Frank of Jersey City, N.J., Stanley of Wilmington and John of Stanton; and four sisters, Stella Formus, Irene Buzin, and Helen Minker, all of Newport, and Bernice Bonkowski of Stanton. Hugh Bryant; jazz-pop vocalist Associated Press PHILADELPHIA Hugh Bryant, baritone for the jazz and pop vocal group The Delta Rhythm Boys, collapsed and died of a heart attack Wednesday while singing a' tribute at the funeral of the group's founder, said a spokesman.

Charles Horner, biographer of group founder Lee Gaines, said he learned of Bryant's death from the group's booking agent, who attended the funeral in Helsinki, Finland. Bryant, who was in his mid-50s, joined the Delta Rhythm Boys in 1962. He performed on Broadway and toured with numerous jazz musicals in the 1930s and '40s, Horner said. Bryant was born and raised in New York City and had lived in Finland for the past 15 years, according to Horner. After recording with jazz greats like Ella Fitzerald, The Delta Rhythm Boys went on to perform in Europe, with membership changing over the years, Horner said.

Warren M. Chadwick FELTON Warren M. Chadwick, 77, of Felton Heights, died Tuesday of respiratory arrest in' Kent General Hospital, Dover. Mr. Chadwick worked at Swift de Co.

poultry processors in for a number of years. He retired in 1972. His wife, Helen, died in 1980. He is survived by two sons, Harry of Harrington and Robert W. of Camden; a daughter, Carla R.

Ziegler of Camden; a sister, Thecla Chadwick of Iowa; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. George Den Herder, 67, died Tuesday of cancer in Deer's Head Center, Salisbury.

Mr. Den Herder was employed by Wicomico County. He retired several years ago. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Hayden; two sons, William P. of Bivalve and Peter J.

of Laurel, a daughter, Dana Letwinsky of Bel Air; a brother, John of Helena, three sisters, Irene Coyle of Elmwood Park, N.J., Johanna VanGrouw of Midland Park, N.J., and Margie Mondrone of Mansville, N.J.; and five grandchildren. Mr. Ipock, 23, died of smoke inhalation in a house fire Monday on Sussex 442 south of Georgetown. He was a guest at the home. Mr. Ipock, of R.D.

1, was a selfemployed tree surgeon for six years. He attended Sussex Central Senior High School in Georgetown. He is survived by his father, Donald with whom he lived; his mother, Judith A. Ipock of Baltimore; three brothers, Donald A. Jr.

of Georgetown, Army Sgt. William at Fort Riley, and Bruce S. of Bradford, and a twin sister, Robin L. Truddell of Bradford. Hassie F.

Walls CLAYTON Hassie F. Walls, 86, of R.D. 1, formerly of Christiana, died Wednesday of pneumonia at Union Hospital in Elkton, Md. Mrs. Walls was a homemaker and a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Newark.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Everett three sons, William R. and Arthur both of New Castle, and Bruce A. of Newark; three daughters, Frances V. Barber of Wilmington, Nellie A. Williamson of Clayton and Audrey J.

Burnsed of Pembroke, two sisters, Vade Lineberry and Hallie Eversole, both of raY. Meadows, 16 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in -Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. Du Pont Parkway, Wilmington Manor, where friends may call Friday after 7.

Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, North Du Pont Parkway. John T. White John T. White, 62, of 61 Memorial Drive, Garfield Park, died Wednesday of cancer in Christiana Hospital. Mr.

White was a plumber for 25 years and had owned Jack White Sons Plumbing Heating since 1968. Before that, he was a welder. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen E. McCann; two sons, John Thomas III and J.

Timothy, both of New Castle; two daughters, JoAnn Durnall and Jean E. Wolf, both of New Castle; his mother, Jean A. White of Newark; three brothers, Joseph and Charles, both of Newark, and William of New Castle; two sisters, Theresa Pingue of Wilmington and Winifred Rivera of Newark; and 12 grandchildren. Other deaths Internationally known concert pianist Natalie Hinderas died of cancer at her Elkins Park, home Wednesday. She was 60. Ms. Hinderas made her first symphony appearance at the age of 12, performing with the Cleveland Women's Symphony. She went on to appear with major orchestras across the county and in Europe.

Jack Lescoulie, 75; 'Today' show original Associated Press NEW YORK Jack Lescoulie, a founding personality on NBC's "Today" show and its resident jester for nearly 15 years, died Wednesday in Memphis of cancer, NBC said. He was 75. Mr. Lescoulie was second banana to Dave Garroway on the original "Today" show, and spoke the first words on the first program on Jan. 14, 1952.

"It took me about a year and a half to get used to Dave Garroway, understand his reactions and timing," Mr. Lescoulie said in 1963. "Then I really could cut loose with some comedy. After that, it was marvelous." During his tenure on "Today," he had an apple shot off his head by an archer, scrimmaged with the New York Giants football team, played water polo with the U.S. Olympic team, interviewed Jack Lescoulie a penguin, ate six breakfasts at one sitting and wrestled a walrus named Herbert at the Bronx Zoo.

He was known to his colleagues as "the saver" because of his knack for lifting a sagging interview with a bit of foolishness. He made his last regular appearances on "Today" in 1967. Born May 17, 1917 in Sacramento, Mr. Lescoulie broke into broadcasting as a staff announcer for KGFJ in Los Angeles. He was an Air Force combat reporter in Italy.

One of Mr. Lescoulie's earliest television jobs was as the star in the premiere broadcast of "Volume One," a dramatic anthology series that ran in June and July of 1949 on ABC. Mr. Lescoulie was an announcer for Jackie Gleason from 1952 to 1959, and did commercials on Milton Berle's show in 1954 and 1955. He was host of a Saturday night sports interview show, "Meet the Champions," in 1956 on NBC, and host of NBC's "Tonight: America After Dark," a short-lived replacement of the "Tonight" show in 1957.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia, a daughter, Linda Ann, and a son, John Phillip. Marie M. Binck DELAWARE CITY Marie M. Binck, 74, of 301 Jefferson died Tuesday of a heart attack in Wilmington Hospital. Mrs.

Binck was a nurse for Dr. Jack Sallee in Wilmington for 19 years, retiring in 1981. She is survived by her husband, Walter two sons, Dr. Walter J. Binck Jr.

of Altus, and William F. of Bellefonte; a daughter, Nancy Press of Hockessin; a brother, John F. Mulrine of Blue Rock Manor; two sisters, Anne M. Boeck and Letitia R. Mulrine, both of Wilmington; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 28th and Madison streets, Wilmington. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Lancaster Avenue. Friends may call Friday after 7 p.m. at McCrery Memorial Chapel, Kirkwood Highway Duncan Road.

Paul Cooch Johnson Sr. Paul Cooch Johnson 64, of 32 Welsh Tract Road, Newark, died at home Tuesday of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Johnson was an instructional resource technician in the visual department of the University of Delaware.

He retired in 1985 after 31 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He is survived by his wife, Lavinia Ann; two sons, Paul C. Jr.

and Donald both of Newark; four daughters, Deborah Gravely of Elkton, Beverly Ann Warrington of Bear, Robin K. Foraker of Smyrna and Cynthia Walters of Newark; two brothers, George W. and Fred, both of Newark; and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Spicer-Mullikin Warwick Funeral Home, 121 W.

Indiana boy, 8, is killed in three-car Md. accident QUEEN ANNE, Md. A Laurel woman ran a stop sign at Maryland 404 and Maryland 309, beginning a three-vehicle accident that resulted in the death of an 8-year-old Indiana boy Wednesday, state police said. Evelyn A. Ratliff, 30, was driving south on Maryland 309 at about 3 p.m.

when, police said, she failed to heed a stop sign at Maryland 404. Her vehicle struck broadside a car heading west on Maryland 404, driven by Kimble D. Pendley, 38, of Alexandria, Va. Pendley's car collided with a car heading east on Maryland 404, operated by Sandra J. Reilly, 42, of Fairfax, Va.

In Pendley's vehicle was Todd Martin of Jeffersonville, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Easton Memorial Hospital. Pendley and three other passengers in her car were injured. Dana Martin was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Kimble Pendley and Adam Pendley were taken to the Easton hospital. Barbara Martin was transported to Prince Georges General Hospital.

Ratliff also was transported to Easton. Reilly was uninjured. Police charged Ratliff with failure to stop at a stop sign and said the state attorney general's office may press further charges. Matthew Nickerson.
