PAGE SIX THE HOLLAND, MICHIGAN, EVENING SENTINEL Holiday Activities Offered in Holland Holland offers many tourist Attractions and scenic sights for visitors during the Fourth of July. For lazy afternoons in sun and sand, Ottawa Beach, Tunnel Park, Goshorn Lake and other smaller lakes and parks are available. If you prefer some excitement with your sun and sand, take a dune schooner ride through the Saugatuck dunes. From 9 a.m. to sundown, 10- mile, 35 minute scenic rides are offered in vehicles carrying up to 22 persons.

Satisfy an interest in boating this holiday weekend. The Holland, area provides the perfect conditions as was proved by the fact that two large sailboat races were held here over the weekend. The Queen's Cup race began Friday from Milwaukee, Wis. and ended at the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club Saturday and a race progressed from Chicago to the yacht club. If furthering an interest in Dutch culture and Holland's heritage is one of your prime concerns, the Holland area provides many opportunities you to develop that interest.

Dutch Village and Windmill Island offer many of the same types of activities but in uniquely different ways. Both have gift shops, snack bars, children's rides and klompen dancing, all set in an authentic Dutch background. Wooden shoe manufacturing is the featured activity at De- Klomp Wooden Shoe Factory and the Wooden Shoe Factory. In addition to providing visitors with a demonstration how wooden shoes are made, both factories also sell Dutch novel- ties made of the basic shoe design. Admission to these factories is free.

i The Netherlands Museum and the Baker Furniture Museum have unusual exhibits of European furnishings, artwork and antiques. To keep in shape for the holiday festivities, the Holland area has several golf and miniature golf courses and riding stables. Summer theatre is a major cultural attraction in the area. "Sweet Charity," and popular musical will begin Tuesday at Saugatuck's Red Barn Theatre and Hope College's production of "Forty-Five Minutes from Broadway" will be continuing in DeWitt Cultural Center. Highlighting the local celebration of Independence Day will be the annual fireworks at the American Legion Country Club.

Holland also has a wide selection of hotels, motels, restaurants and campsites for traveler's comfort and convenience for the Fourth of July or any. time. Float Contest For Coast Guard Festival Set GRAND HAVEN In an effort to get a larger number of quality floats in the Coast Guard Festival parade, the Festival Board has decided to stage a float contest this year. C. Walker arena at 7:30 p.m. This event will combine most of the vocal and music groups of the community, and promises to be an entertaining new addition to the festival. Immediately following Community Music Festival, a gigantic fireworks display will brighten the over Muskegon Lake. The fireworks will be fired from the Muskegon lake side of Lakey Foundry and will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
