The government followed up the broadcast today by inviting. Buddhist leaders to mect with an, inter-ministerial committee. But the Buddhist leaders said they did not want to enter the talks until they have recened further assurances of the government's intentions. leaders asked the gOVernment to release all Buddhists arrested throughout the country in connection with demonstrations protesting government religious policy.

In a surprise personal radio appeal to the population. Die pledged Thursday night his government would out terms of a ment reached with the Buddhists last month. He also announced that all 14 Buddhist sects would be allowed to fly their flags Six sects had received this permission previously.
