Hampson Manufacturing maker of "Insur-Flex" wire insulator for automotive upholstery, furniture and bedding today is operating from its new location at 706 Ottawa Ave. Into Hampson's former quarters at 346 West 15th St. moves Kars Petersen, maker of "STOP," an adhesive "foot" for washing machines and other appliances. Hampson's insulators are used as pad supports between the springs and padding in mattresses and box springs, automotive seats and furniture.

The product consists of woven wire used with burlap or cotton and twisted paper cord. True Life Adventures 000 per day. "Market research," said Peter, son, "indicates that we should operate efficiently and profitably at the rate of 1.000,000 per month. We can do that, but we'll need more space. That's why we're moving into Hampson's former plant." Eight people are employed by the company at present, five in Holland and three at Grand Havjn.

Plans are to incorporate as much of the Grand Haven operation into the Holland facilities as is possible. "Eventually," said Petersen, we plan to hire more people as sve expand to meet demand." Petersen is already embarked on diversification. Two new products are in the process of being marketed now. One is a polythylene furniture J. C.

building in just two years. Starting with two employees the company has expanded to a shop employing eight men. "Different industries we supply have different seasons," said Hampson. "for instance the peak seasons for automobiles and furniture come at different times of the year. This works well for our operation." He added that demand for bedding remains relatively stable all year around, and that this is a solid, steadying factor in the insulator-manufacturing business.

"We like Holland because of its stable labor market and good trucking service," Hampson said. Pie said he is also appreciative of the assistance and encouragement received from the Holland Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber's new executive vice- president, Roscoe Giles. The hanger is designed to hold a pair of men's trousers without wrinkling and with no sliding or slipping. Ten years ago, Petersen fell 454 feet from a high voltage power pole, landing on pavement. The accident, which happened in Grand Haven, broke both legs, pelvis, and several other bones, and required 25 operations before Petersen was restored to health. A leg amputation left him partially disabled. At 33 he entered the Michigan State Vocational School, to study manufacturing and production engineering.

When he graduated he went to work for the Herman Miller Co. of Zeeland as a production engineer, before branching off into his own venture. Petersen, too. was appreciative of the encouragement received from Giles and the Holland Chamber of Commerce. and praised the "positive attitude" of the Chamber in promoting new business in Holland.
