He was 68. Mr. Callaway, who served on the board for many years, was an operator at the DuPont Seaford nylon plant for 31 years and retired in 1978. He was a member of Farmington Fire Company. An Army veteran of Korean War, he was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Harrington.

JOHN COKER, 81, of Fulton Street, Cheswold, died Monday in Kent General Hospital, Dover. Mr. Coker was a truck driver and crane operator for George Lynch for more than 20 years. Later, he worked at Delaware Air Park, Cheswold, in ground maintenance until his retirement about five years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Post Cana, and Maryland and Delaware nurses' associations, and attended Elkton United Methodist Church. Her husband, William Ralph, died in 1971.

RICE, a longtime member and committee woman of Metropolitan United Methodist Church, died Saturday of respiratory failure in Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 68 and lived in Harrington. Mrs. Rice, known as Babycakes, was church Sunday school superintendent for 10 years, taught Sunday and vacation Bible schools, sang in the choir, was a trustee and president of the usher board. She was a cook, seamstress and shop steward for Garment Union AFLCIO in the Harrington area before retiring several years ago.

She served on the boards of Harrington Senior Center, Harrington Historical Society and Harrington Day Care Center. Her husband, James, died in 1986. Survivors: son, Kenneth Thorpe Sr. of Harrington; daughter, Janet M. Benson of Dover; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Rice of New York City and Samantha Harmon of Texas; adopted son, Erick Gillespie of Accomac, 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
