Firemen removed the pilot and three passengers by ladder from inside the store Those in the plane and one store employe were hospitalized. More than 20 others inside the store escaped injury. (UPI telephoto) Small Plane Crashes Into Roof of Store; 7 Injured FARMINGTON (UPI) A small plane went into a tailspin Tuesday night and nose- dived into the roof of a supermarket with 20-30 shoppers inside.

At least seven persons were injured, including an em-j ploye and two shoppers. The plane, its wings caught in I the roofing beams, dangled onlyj about five feet from the floor until workmen removed it with a large industrial crane. Authorities expressed the belief that the structure of the roof was such as to lessen the impact of the crash--a factor which probably saved the lives of the pilot and his three passengers. Had the twin engine Beechcraft Baron crashed into the parking lot nearby, all would likely have perished. There was no explosion, although the impact of the crash blew out all the windows in the store as shoppers rushed for safety.

The flight originated from Pontiac Airport and the landing gear was down at the time of the crash. "We were really lucky that it happened on a day like today when it was really slow, 1 said Chistopher H. Ely, 23, a stock clerk at the store, part of the Farmer Jack chain. "If it had happened on a Friday or Saturday, the store would have been packed." "It was a miracle no one was killed," said Mrs. Janet Eichler of Farmington, who was in the store with her two children at the time "Thank God we're Farmington Police Sgt.

Richard H. Miller, among several persons to witness the crash from outside the store, said he was about two blocks away from the cluster of shops when he heard a "sputtering'" from the sky. "I looked up and saw this plane come down in a tailspin," Miller said. "I thought at first they were dive-bombing" said Fire Chief George Hume, who also was nearby at the tune of the crash, "but soon saw they weren't None of the injured reported seriously hurt. The pilot of the plane, David Dalpian, 37, Farmington Township, the owner of a Detroit restaurant, was listed in satisfactory condition at Botsford Hospital here as were his three passengers Mike Markovich, 30.

Southfield; Bernard Slone. 24, Plymouth and Donald Vessel, 43. Livonia. The two customers, Frank Starron and Carl Roberts, both of Farmington, were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia.

There was no official report of their condition but authorities indicated neither was seriously injured. Mark Tegerlawer, 17 Farmington. a stockboy at the supermarket, was treated for shock and released. Miller described the atmosphere at the store at the time of the crash as one of "turmoil." "We all screamed; there was a lot of screaming," Mrs. Eichler said.

"I just grabbed the kids and started running. I left everything behind--purse, groceries, Suzanne Wilson, 19, who was checking out a customer at the lime said that before either realized what had happened, "we just ran out of the building."
