1925. in Hancock County, he was the son ofJValter F. and Crystal (Wilson) Lowder. Mr. Lowder worked at Delco Remy, Anderson, as a supervisor for 25 years, retiring in 1973.

He was Past President of Charlottesville Lions Gub and had served in several other offices. Survivors include sons John Ixwder, New Castle, Mark Lowder, Humble, Texas; daughters Sara Sander, Debra Mills, both of Shirley, Beverly Eastes, Greenfield; brother Walter Lowder, New Palestine; sister Nancy Scurlock, Indianapolis; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis (Cooney) Lowder in 1975. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pasco Memorial Mor Born Dec.

Mr. Copeland was an operating engineer for many years while working out of the International Union of Operating Engineers No. 1030. 421 Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Greenfield Eagles Lodge, Greenfield Moose Lodge, Greenfield Conservation Club, Greenfield FOP and Indiana Sheriff's Association. Ruble was a homemaker and member of New Palestine United Methodist Church. Survivors include husband Glenn W. Ruble; daughter Sue E. Folk-ening, New Palestine; son Gary L. Ruble, New Palestine; sister Clara Hooton, Versailles; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hendryx Mortuaries New Palestine Chapel, with the Revs. Walter Neal and Jack Haskins officiating. Burial will follow in New Palestine Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m.

Dorothy Elizabeth Laird Dorothy Elizabeth Laird, 75, Franklin, formerly of Greensburg and Shelbyville, died Saturday at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Born Dec. 26, 1917, in Shelbyville, she was the daugher of Mantford and Opal (Kendall) Handley.

Mrs. Iaird was a 1934 graduate of Shelbyville High School. She was a homemaker and worked in sales for the former Goodman-Jesters Department Store, Franklin. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 57 years Chester Laird; sons Aaron D.

Laird, Yuma, Barry L. Laird, Indianapolis; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dean Allen Laird, two brothers and three sisters. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev.

Maurice L. Whitaker Maurice L. Whitaker, 70, Fortville, died Sunday at Hancock Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 8, 1922, near McCordsville, he was the son of William and Elma (Crosley) Whitaker.

Mr. Whitaker was a Hancock County Fanner for several years and following that worked at Delco Remy Division of GMC, Anderson, for 28 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fortville, and was an avid stamp collector and hor-ticulturalist. Mr. Whitaker was a 1941 graduate of Mt.

Comfort High School. Survivors include his wife of 21 years Vivian E. (Holmes) Whitaker; daughters Sheri Carlson, Teri Whitaker, both of Colorado Springs, sons Alan W. Whitaker, Colorado Springs, Roger L. Whitaker, Fortville; three grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald L. Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Burial will follow in Gravel Lawn Cemetery, near Fortville. Friends may call 2-8 p.m.

Survivors include sisters Dianna Thalmann, Indianapolis, Jeanne Delbridge, Knightstown, Linda Rannefeld, Taos, N.M.; several nieces and nephews; one uncle; and two aunts.

Illinois Man found dead The body of a Greenfield man was discovered shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, the victim of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, mvestigators said.
