Francis de Sales Will Host Women of the Diocese Committee chairmen discussed plans for the 34th annual convention of the Grand Rapids Diocesan Council of Catholic Women at a morning coffee at the home of Mrs. Joseph W. Lang, Thursday. The convention will be held in Holland May 2, with a concelebrated mass at St. Francis de Sales Church at 8:45 a.m.

Women from the Grand Rapids Diocese, which covers 11 counties of western Michigan will register at the church at 8 a.m. Registration will also be held following the mass at 9:45 a.m. Coffee- will be served at 10 after which workshops will be conducted in the church building. The theme of this year's convention is "You Will Be My Witnesses." The group will move to Holland Civic Center at where luncheon is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Mrs.

Fred Grunst, who is president of the Grand Haven Deanery and convention chairman will welcome the The Most Rev. Joseph M. Breitenbeck, D. bishop of Grand Rapids Diocese will be the luncheon speaker. Sixth grade Camp Fire Girls of St.

Francis de Sales School will present the colors and will officiate as pages and ushers. Following committee reports and election of officers, Dr. Miles J. Murphy, M. D.

in gynecology and obstetrics of Grand Rapids will address the assembly on "The Voice of the Unborn." Committee chairmen from St. Francis de Sales Church whoj are assisting Mrs. Grunst, convention chairman a Mrs. Lang, co-chairman are: Mrs. Harry F.

(Sentinel photo) Classis Zeeland Women Hold Missionary Meet First Christian Reformed Church, Zeeland, last Thursday hosted the annual spring meet- Ing of the Women's Missionary Union of the Christian Reformed Church of Classis Zeeland. The afternoon meeting began with an organ and piano prelude by Mrs. Arthur Nyeholt and Mrs.

Frank Aukeman. Mrs. Gerrit J. Kemme, Union president, presided at both meetings and greeted the audience. Henry Hoekstra led in devotions.

He gave a report of his work at the Allegan Chapel. Special music was given by a vocal sextet, composed of Mrs. Harold Koopman, Mrs. Gerald Vander Kooy, Mrs. Ronald Vander Wai, Mrs.

Harold Roze- veld, Mrs. Kenneth Meyer and Mrs. Robert Plekker. The featured speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. Arthur Van Til who spent sometime this I spring on the Indian Mission Field in observance of the 75th Anniversary of Indian Missions.

She brought greetings in the Navajo language which translated means "God is Love." She was attired in a Navajo dress worn for best occasions, jewelry, aqua velvet blouse with matching satin full skirt. She spent 13 days on the mission field making her home with the Rev. and Mrs. Edward Henry at Tohatchi. Mrs.

Arthur Schipper led in the offertory prayer and the afternoon offering amounted to $734.60. Mrs. Harry Aldrink led in closing prayer. The evening meeting began with an organ and piano pre lude by Mrs. Paul Brower and Mrs. Howard Van Klompenberg and the praise service was led by Warren De Vries.

Devotions were led by the Rev. Alfred Hannink. A vocal duet was given by Mrs. Terry De Kraker and Mrs. Dan De Groot.

The speaker for the evening was the Rev. Dick Bouma, missionary to the Phillippines since 1968, he gave an illustrated lecture of his work. Because of the heat, outdoor Hope Chapel Choir At Third Reformed The College Chapel Choir, directed by Dr. Robert W. Cavanaugti, will sing at 5:30 p.m.

at Third Reformed Church, Sunday. They will sing "Unto Thee I i my spirit," by Hiller; "Speak to Another of church services are held in the driveway of the Boumas' and at night are held in their home with as many as 140 in attendance. On the Boumas return, they will go to Manila, which is 300 miles from their former work. The offertory prayer was given by Mrs. Gary Renkema and the evening offering amounted to $488.95.

From the total offerings for the day, $300 each was given to the Phillip- pines for evangelism and films and to Indian work in Chicago and San Francisco; $200 each to Australia for scholarships, to Mkar Hospital in Nigera and to Norfolk Servicemen's Home and $170 to the Rehoboth dormitories. After the closing hymn, the Rev. Paul Sehoon of Jamestown led in closing prayer. Psalms," by Jean Berger; a Hebrew prayer set to music by Joshua Lind, "Hayom Team- tzenu;" "0 Lamb of God Most by Johann Eccard, "Blessed Is the Man," by William Bradley, and at the offertory "Antiphon" from Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughn Williams. Following the presentation The Chapel Choir will be joined by the Chancel Choir of Third Reformed Church, trumpets, timpani, and organ for the Vaughn Williams setting of "Old Hundredth." Assisting in the service will be Linda Swinyard, Bruce Formsma, and Dan Leep, trumpets, and Richard Vande Bunte, timpani.

Glenn Pride will accompany the choir. Members of the Senior High Fellowship of the church will usher and receive the offering. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
