MICHIGAN, EVENING SENTINEL Miss Bierling Is Wed To Richard Kornoeije Miss Florence Maryhe Bierling and Richard Eugene Kor- noeije were united in marriage Saturday in the, Holy Name Catholic Church of Grandyille with the- Rev. McDuffee officiating. Bob Westdorp, who was organist for the occasion and accompanied the soloist, Phillip Shingrou. Parents of the couple are Mr.

and Mrs. Cornelius Bierling, 1252 Marlene, Holland, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Korncelje, of Grand Rapids. For their attendants, the couple chose Mrs.

Jack Van Liere, matron of honor; Mrs. Gary Van Langevelde and Mrs. Mrs. Richard Eugene Kornoeije Thomas Apsey, Kim Van Liere, David Chenier, bridesmaids; flower girl; best man; Thomas Apsey and Robert Kor- noeije, groomsmen; John Apsey, ringbearer; and Marc Kornoe- ije and Edward Bierling, ushers. The bride was attired in a floor-length gown of white mira mist featuring an empire waist and long bishop sleeves with cuffs and bodice trimmed with venice lace and having tiny buttons accenting the front.

Her double mantilla veil was trimmed with matching, venice lace and she carried a bouquet of pink sweetheart roses, white miniature carnations, stephanotis and baby's breath with white streamers. The bridal attendants wore WINDOW SHADES cur TO SIZE 28 E. 8th St. 392-1891 floor-length blue gowns with long sleeves, smocked bodices and high collars. Matching bow headpieces held short, two-tiered veils and they carried bouquets of pink sweetheart roses, white daisies, light blue miniature carnations, purple statice, lily-of-the-valley, mint green feathered carnations and white baby's breath accented with light blue and purple streamers.

The newlyweds greeted guests at a reception at the Bavarian House in Grand Raqids before leaving on a wedding trip to Florida. They will reside in Grand Rapids. The bride, a graduate of Calvin College, teaches at Southwest Elementary School, Wyoming. The groom works in the office at General Motors. Area Hospitals List 7 Babies Holland, Zeeland and Community Hospital, Douglas, reported seven babies born over the weekend.

Born Sunday in Holland Hospital were a son, to Mr. and Mrs. John Grossbauer III, 231 Scotts and a daughter, Christy Joy, to Mr. and Mrs. Keith Swartz, Pullman.

Born today was a son, Jon Michael, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voss, 354 West 17th St. Born in Zeeland Hospital Friday were a daughter, Victoria Anna, to Mr. and Mrs.

John Zuidersma, route 3, Byron Center. Born Saturday in Douglas, was a son, Jan Herman, to Mr. and Mrs. Albertus Geerdink, 3936 65th Holland. Schierbeek Cited For Design Engineering Ralph J.

H. Schierbeek, 47 West 31st won second place in the 1972 draftsmen's comrjeti- tion sponsored by the Sheet Metal Employers Association of Detroit. The award was presented last week at an annual dinner of the Michigan Society of Architects in Detroit. Schierbeek, employed by Vander Meiden, Koteles and Associates of Grand Haven, was cited for heating and air conditioning design for a service building of Foremost Insurance Co. of Grand Rapids.

Area Students To Get Calvin Scholarships The Scholarship Committee of Calvin College has released the names of 795 senior high students who will receive scholarships from Calvin.

The Freshman Scholarships are for a base stipend of $100 and in addition will give up to 25 per cent of the students need for the year. Holland Christian High School seniors receiving this type of scholarship are Marilyn Brouwer, Gordon Den Ouden, Craig Lemmen, Jeffrey Peerbolt, Mary Schutten, Kathy Schrotenboer, Mark Schrotenboer, Joan Stoel, David Van Appledorn, Laurel Vermeer and Janet Zinnen. The Honors Scholarship will also pay a base of $100 and then will pay up to 80 per cent of a student's need. Norma Essenburg of Zeeland, a student at Holland Christian will receive this award. Beth Topp of Hamilton High and Nancy Vanden Heuvel of Holland Christian will receive Pre-Nursing Ssholarships which also give a base of $100 with an additional amount up to 25 per cent of the student's need.

Baby Shower Honors Mrs. Bernie Johnson Mrs. Bernie Johnson of Overisel was guest of honor at a baby shower recently given by Mrs. Eugene Ensing of Overisel, and Mrs. Lloyd Brouwer, 2395 Edson at the lattter's home.

Mr. and Mrs. William Hovenga 241 West 21st will ceJebrate their 50th wedding annwersary Thursday. They were married March 30, 1922, by the late Rev. J.

M. Vande Kieft, pastor of Street Christian Church. Fourteenth Reformed Mrs. Hovenga is the former Mary Vos. Mr.

and Mrs. Hovenga are charter members of the Golden Agers. The couple's children are Mr. and Mrs. William Hovenga Jr.

and Donald Hovenga and their grandchildren are Mr. and Mrs. Kurt (Sandra) Snapper, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hovenga and Mr.

and Mrs. Mike (Gail) Reidsma. There are three great- grandchildren. The couple will entertain their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with dinner at the Hotel Warm Friend. Angell Scholars at the University's 49th annual Honors Convocation Friday. The honor is given to those students who have earned an all-A record for two consecutive terms. Anne E. Den Herder, 692 Aster and Bob Farrah, 225 Glendale students at Northern Michigan University in Marquette have been named to the Dean's List for the fall semester. A chamiponship game was played by the Friday Duplicate Bridge Club which meets at the Wooden Shoe Motel. Winners were Mrs. Joe Borgman and Mrs.

Arthur Wyman, first; Mrs-. I.H. Marsilje and Mrs. William Thomas, second; and Mrs. Roy Strengholt and Mrs.

Ray Wag- enveld, third. The club will not meet on Good Friday but will meet the following Friday. The Holland Friends of Art will hold a regular meeting at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the north exhibition area of Civic Center. Del Michel of the art department of Hope College will show slides on contemporary art.

A short business meeting is scheduled. Coffee will be served. Members of the Holland High School Class of 1942 will meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the educational unit at First United Methodist Church to plan for a class reunion this year. Miss Dawn Vanden Heuvel, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Dennis Vanden Heuvel, 1570 Center Zeeland, was named to the Dean's List at Calvin College for academic excellence from January, 1971, to January, 1972. Miss Vanden Heuvel is a senior at Calvin. Central College's Communication 'and Theatre Department and Mina M. Baker of Holland, home economics department chairman, served as judges at the recent Southeast State Individual Speech Contest in Fairfield, Iowa.

TO APPEAR The Dordt College Concert Choir of Sioux Center, Iowa, under the direction of Dale Grotenhuis, will appear in concert at Dimnent Memorial Chapel at Hope College Wednesday at 8 p.m. The 45 members, including Jerry Vreeman and Winnie Maas of Holland, are on their spring tour and this varied concert of sacred music will feature vocal works of all periods of music history. A new work "I Will Extol Thee," composed by Grotenhuis as commissioned by the Northwest Iowa Choral Festival, will be featured. A free-will offering will be received. Van Kley will be in charge of room arrangements and hostesses will be Mrs. V. Poest and Mrs. Wyngarden. Crash Injures Driver Sally Joe Emelander, 20, of route 2, Hamilton, suffered minor injuries when the car she was driving failed to negotiate a curve along 48th St.

550 feet west of South Washington Ave. Saturday at 10:15 p.m. and ran into a ditch, hitting a fence. Holland police said the driver told them she attempted to avoid a dog that crossed into her path. Government Files Suit GRAND RAPIDS (UPI)--The U.S.

Department of Labor has filed a federal court suit, seeking an injunction against the Mall City Ambulance, Kalamazoo, and Ronald Onder- linde, the firm's president, for allegedly failing to pay the federal minimum wage of $1.60 an hour to employes. Stuart Westing presented a showing of a slide production with a synchronized musical background entitled "The Earth is the Lord's and the Fullness the. purpose of which is to praise God for the beauty of the world. The business was conducted by the president of the Guild, Mrs.

Maude Dogger. Mrs. Ernest VandenBerg gave the financial report and Mrs. Charles Maas reviewed current Guild work. The birthday party in Resthaven Home will be given in April by Calvary Baptist Church.

Details of the coming sale project were mentioned by Mrs, Harry Kalmink and Mrs. John Robbert told of the Service League activities. Used muslin sheets for bandages for leprosy patients are still needed and may be brought to the Resthaven downstairs lobby. During the social hour dessert was served from a buffet table with a spring flower centerpiece and yellow tapers. The refreshment committee included Mrs.

Alfred Hossink and Mrs. Jacob Zuidema. The April Guild meeting will be held in Trinity Reformed Church. Welsh Turns 89 GRAND RAPIDS (UPI) -George W. Welsh, who' entered the political arena at the turn of the century, turned 89 today.

He was former Grand Rapids mayor. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew De Wys, 50 Garfield Zeeland, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Thursday. They were married March 30, 1922, at the home of the bride's parents, the late Mr.

and Mrs. Peter Fongers who were then living on East Main Zeeland. The late Rev. H. E.

Oostendorp, pastor of the North Street Christian Reformed Church at that time, performed the ceremony. They are still Mr. and Mrs. Andrew De Wys members of the North Street congregation. They have one daughter, Mrs.

Adelaide Woods, 'and three grandchildren, Diane, Alan and Keith who are living in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Mr. De Wys is retired from Herman Miller Inc. furniture company where he had worked for 46 years.

Mrs. De Wys' nieces and nephews will entertain the couple with a dinner at Holiday Inn Tuesday evening. Lenten Presentation Shifted to School Demand for reservations for Norma Hillebrands' presentation on "Mary, the Mother of Jesus" at Providence Christian Reformed Church has resulted in a shift to the auditorium of Christian High School Wednesday morning. The coffee will remain at 9 a.m. in the church with the shift to nearby Christian High School at 10 a.m.

Reservations may still be made by calling Baker Book House, Heerspink's or the Christian "High superintendent's office. No reservations may be made after 4 p.m. Tuesday. School Time to Register Proposed by Rep. Ford GRAND RAPIDS (UPI) Rep.

Gerald R. Ford, R- proposed today that 18- year-olds attending high schools in Kent and Ionia counties be given school time in which to register to vote. Ford made his proposal in a letter to all school superintendents in his two-county district and got one immediate and favorable response. Kent Intermediate Schools Supt- Albert L. Deal said, "I think it's a tremendous idea.
