HOWARD MOORE, 77, of 66 Buddy Chesapeake City, died Thursday at home.

Mr. Moore was a retired civilian employee of the Dover Air Force Base. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Chesapeake City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7687. His wife, Alice Marie, died in 1989. Survivors: sons, Eugene of Marl-ton, N.J., Harry, Wade and Charles, all of Chesapeake City, Donnie and Van Art, both of Elkton, and Bart and Marvin, both of Cecil-ton; daughters, Joyce Cosner of Elkton, Anna Biggs of Chesapeake City, Lou Ganazman of Newark, and Fay Etta of Florida; sister, Molly Steward of Middletown, brother, Henry of Middle Neck; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

RONALD LEE PRUITT, 41, of Newark, died Thursday of cancer at home. Mr. Pruitt was a painter for James Pullin Painting and Wallpaper Wilmington. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Saratoga. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Newark.

Survivors: son, William L. of Newark; mother, Elsie Pruitt of Newark; brother, Richard of New Mexico; sisters, Anna Mae Counts of Oklahoma, Dolores Bowen of New Castle, Barbara Dixon of Middletown, and Sandra Pennington of Newark. EVELYN HITCHENS WOODWARD, 86, formerly of Limestone Road, died Thursday in Leader Nursing Rehabilitation Center of Pike Creek, 5651 Limestone Road. Mrs. Woodward and her husband, Charles owned a dairy farm at Limestone Road and Kirkwood Highway and sold their produce at the farmer's market on King Street, Wilmington.

They sold the farm in 1955 and Midway Shopping Center was later built on the property. She was a member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church for 67 years and a member of the Harmony Grange for 72 years. Her husband died in 1983. Survivors: daughters, Marian W. Pierce of Barefoot Bay, Doris W.

Jarrell of Wilmington and Elizabeth W. Jestice of Laurel; eight grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Wright worked at Richardson and Robbins a chicken processor in Dover, for 25 years, retiring in 1960. She was a member of Capitol Baptist Church, Smyrna, American Association of Retired Persons and Modern Maturity Center, both of Dover. Her husband, Clarence, died in 1976. Survivors: son, Donald Ziegler of Camden; daughters, Betty Johnson of Smyrna, and Gladys Sipple of Wyoming; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Shepard worked for Bennett Security Systems, Dover. He was a member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church, Camden, and a former member of Dover Fraternal Order of Police. He was a Dover police officer from 1967 to 1980, and was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors: wife, Mary son, Jerry B. Jr.

of Wilmington; daughter, Patti Shepard of Elkton, brothers, William Jr. of Tuskegee, and David of Laurel, sisters, Marion Burkett of On-nalinda, and Barbara Andrews of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. Contributions: Whatcoat United Methodist Church, Camden. RONALD W. THOMAS, 79, of 3311 N. Rockfield Drive, Devonshire, Brandywine Hundred, died Friday of cancer at his son's home in Wilmington. Mr.

Thomas was a loading dock supervisor at Wooleyhan Transportation Wilmington, retiring in 1981 after 35 years. He was a member of Cathedral Church of St. John and Teamsters Union Local 326, New Castle. He was active in the Devonshire Civic Association and its crime watch program. His first wife of 49 years, Eunice Thomas, died in 1985.

His second wife of five years, Melvina E. Owens Thomas, died in 1994. Survivors: son, Richard N. of Wilmington; stepdaughters, Diane O. Newman of Tempe, and Barbara O.

Vavala was deli manager at supermarkets on Miller Road and in Talleyville, retiring in 1980 after 20 years. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Survivors: husband of 58 years, Joseph daughter, Joan M. Patrick, with whom the Vavalas lived; four grandchildren.

MARGARET A. VICKS, 59, of 46 Rose Lane, Rosegate, near New Castle, died Tuesday of heart failure at home. Mrs. Vicks was a day-care HENRY BOJARSKI, 78, of New Castle, died Wednesday of heart failure in Wilmington Hospital. Mr.

Bojarski was a toll taker at the Delaware Memorial Bridge for 16 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Patrick's Senior Center. Survivors: sister, Frances Swalkowski of Wilmington; brothers, Theodore and Edward, both of New Castle; niece, Victoria S. Kus-tosz of New Castle, who cared for him.

ALINE BRUGMANN, 95, formerly of 3404 Rockfield Drive South, Devon, Brandywine Hundred, died Tuesday in Governor Bacon Health Care Center, Delaware City. Mrs. Brugmann was a music teacher and pianist at Tower Hill School for many years and taught private lessons and composed several piano pieces. Her husband, Elmer W. Brugmann, is deceased.

Survivors: nieces and nephews. Burial: Monday, the family mausoleum in Grandview Cemetery, Allentown, Pa. Contributions: charity. KENNETH D. DAY, 45, of 729 Eighth Murray Manor, Stanton, died Thursday of liver failure at home.

Mr. Day was a foreman for Container Research Co. for five years. He retired on disability in 1993. Survivors: son, William of Wilmington; daughter, Jessica Day of Wilmington; mother, Marie Harkins of Wilmington; brothers, Gregory Day of Shreveport, and Willis Day of Copper Hill, and sisters, Anna Wayland of West Chester, and Carol Connelly of Wilmington.

Petersburg. A native of Newark, N.J., she lived in St. Petersburg in winters and Wilmington in summers. Her husband, Bernard is deceased. Survivors: sons, Bernard F.

HASSETT 58, of 2512 McCawber Drive, Limestone Gardens, Milltown, formerly of Lansdowne, died Thursday of cancer at home. Mr. Hassett was a media handler for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail for 39 years, retiring in 1995 due to disability. He attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and then served in the Army. He was a member of the Notre Dame Quarterback Club, St.

John the Beloved Catholic Church and Railroad Holy Name Society. Survivors: wife of 33 years, Mary Atkinson Hassett; daughter, Gracy Naughton of Bear; sons, Edward at home, and Joseph of New York City; brother, Joseph of Ambler, sisters, Margaret Berch-told, Nancy Hassett, Helen Peary and Florence Kelly, all of Philadelphia, Alice Keane of Wilmington, and Mary Mowatt of Ardsley, three grandsons. David was killed Tuesday in a fire at his home in which three other family members were injured, including his mother, Eileen Leonzio, who was critically burned. She was in serious but stable condition at Bayview Burn Center, his family said. He was a sixth grade honor student at Chesapeake City Elementary School who aspired to become an Air Force jet pilot, his family said. David enjoyed archery and shot in the Friday Night League at Shanes Archery in Smyrna, and participated in tournaments in New Jersey and Delaware at which he received several trophies. Survivors: mother; father, Lawrence brother, Bernie Ali-menti of Newark, sisters, Kathy Alimenti at home, Lisa Leonzio of Fair Hill, and Linda Harkness of Bear, paternal grandparents, Pompilio and Alice Leonzio of Newark.

Contributions: Chesapeake City Elementary School, David Leonzio Memorial Library Collection. mary m. Mcdowell, 92, of Dodd Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, died at home Sunday of respiratory failure. Mrs. McDowell, who retired in 1969, was a stenographic supervisor in DuPont textile fibers department in Wilmington.

She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Rehoboth Beach, and Beebe Medical Center Auxiliary and a charter member of Kalmar Business and Professional Women's Club. Dr. Mette, born in Hamburg, Germany, received his medical degree from the University of Hamburg, Germany. After immigrating to the United States in 1953, he completed his surgical residency at Lewis-Gale Hospital, Roanoke, Va. After that, he finished his anesthesia residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He and his family moved to Wilmington in 1961, where he practiced anesthesiology at Delaware Hospital and Wilmington Medical Center until retiring in 1986.

From 1989 until retiring in September, he was a consultant for Zeneca Pharmaceuticals. SCHAEFFER 90, of Foulk Manor North, 1212 Foulk Road, Brandywine Hundred, died Thursday of a heart attack in St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Schaeffer was an electrical foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 48 years, retiring in 1970. He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Wilmington and the Railroad Brotherhood.
