EMMA FERN SMARR, 82, of Riverdale, formerly of Baltimore, died Wednesday of heart failure in Harbor Health Care Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. Mrs. Smarr was a retired sales clerk. Her husband, Grover, died in 1982. Survivors: daughter, Lois I.

Davis of Riverdale, with whom she lived; sisters, Charlotte Parks of Amarillo, Texas, and Hester Hubbard of Princeton, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. STEVENS, 77, of Ocean View, formerly of Wilmington, died July 12 of respiratory failure in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. Mr. Stevens was a chemist for 38 years for the DuPont Wilmington, retiring to Ocean View in 1980. He was a member of St. Martha's Episcopal Church, Bethany Beach, and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Dunning worked at Townsends Georgetown, for 14 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. MARGARET WHALEY GODWIN, former director of Wesley College's student health center, died Wednesday in Carroll County Hospital, Westminster. She was 79 and lived at Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminster, Md.

Mrs. Godwin, formerly of Dover, was a 1938 graduate of Beebe Hospital School of Nursing in Lewes and headed the college health center from 1956 to 1970. Earlier, she was a private duty nurse at Milford Memorial Hospital from 1938 to 1942 and Kent General Hospital from 1942 to 1956. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Dover, and past president of the Carroll Lutheran Residence Council. Her husband, William J.

died in 1989. Survivors: sons, William J. Jr. of Finksburg and Michael of Cape Coral, sister, Emma Gunning of Milford; five grandchildren. Service: 2 p.m.

CALVIN GRANT, 71, of Millsboro, died Monday of a brain hemorrhage in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. Mr. Grant was a self-employed mechanic and a member of St. John's Baptist Church, Mount Joy. Survivors: daughter, Angelin Zweigler of Los Angeles.

HERMAN, 49, of Wilmington, died Tuesday of cancer at home. Mrs. Herman was a secretary at Wilmington Hospital for the past 12 years. Earlier, she worked for the Delaware Association for Retarded Citizens, Wilmington. She was a former member and president of the Brandywine Janecees and former state vice president.

She received numerous state and local awards for her Janecee work, including the Janecee Extraordinaire. Funeral Notices The Rev. Thomas J. Hopkins OSFS, former principal and teacher at Salesianum School, died Wednesday of stomach can- cer in Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, Fla. He was 67.

The Rev. Hopkins was a dialy-- sis patient for several years until having a kidney transplant eight years ago. His association with Salesianum School -began in 1949. He taught biology until 1951 and religion from 1957 to 1959. He was named the school's prefect of discipline and master of scholastics of the Salesianum Oblat.fi Community that year and assistant principal The Rev.

Since leaving Wilmington in 1969, he was religious superior of DeSales Hall Oblate Community, Hyattsville, taught re-, ligion and was religious superior at Northeast Catholic High School, Philadelphia; provincial LILLIAN BAKER, 86, of Lincoln, died Tuesday in Milford Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Baker had worked for Swift Poultry Co. Her husband, the Rev. Richard is deceased.

RONALD H. DICKERSON, 65, of rural Lincoln, died Wednesday of heart failure at home. Mr. Dickerson was a graphic artist at L.D. Caulk Division Dentsply International Milford, for 43 years.

He retired in 1994. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was an antique furniture restorer.
