Myers Penruw Myers, Oak Ridge, Gettysburg's oldest merchant, was honored Sunday by letter of congratulation from President Roosevelt on the occasion of the jeweler's 8CIJ1 birthday. Mr.

Myers, for 08 years owner and manager of his Jewelry store on Baltimore street, was working at the store Sunday afternoon about 3 o'clock when ti special delivery tet- ter from the White House was handed to him The letter, sent May 27, follows: "Dear Mr Myers. The President has heard that on next Sunday you will celebrate your 86th birthday and he u.sk^ me to extend U) you his veiv best wishes He hopes the anniversary will bung you many happy memoiles of a long life and that all your days will be filled with peace and happiness" The letter was signed by William D. Large Barn Burns Mon. Near Hampton Fire Monday destroyed a large bank barn on the Harry Starner farm near Hampton, formerly known as the Calvin Warren farm. Mr.

Hlnkle, a neighbor. The barn was completely destroyed together with all implements, as well as a quantity of baled hay and straw The cattle were grazing in a field. Four hogs were badly burned, and six rabbits, a cat and four kittens were destroyed. Half of the roof on the residence was burned. Damage was partly covered by insurance.
