Mr. and Mrs Harper J. Philips entertained at a supper party Thursday evening in honor of their son-in-law and daughter, Sgt. and Mrs. John S.

Kohler, who arrived here during the past week from Florida, where Sgt. Kohler is an instructor. The couple are at housekeeping near his camp. Corp. Tech.

5th Grade Gerald E. Krout, 4 Camp Ellis, spent the -end here on furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D.

Wantz recently moved to Drexel HIll, after residing for some years in Brooklyn, N. and this visit was in the rature of a housewarming by the family. Guy Slothour and family, of Hanover and E. J. Sinner and daughter, Anna, spent Sunday with 1 Pius Baker and family, near Blue HIll school.

Miss Dorothy Leib, student nurse at the York City hospital, spent Saturday at her home at Baughmansville. Miss Lois Rider, York, spent the week-end here with George Oberlander and family. Miss Rider, a graduate of the local high school last spring, is employed at the National Biscuit company, York. War fund contributions from this place, solicited by Miss Mary R. Emig, chairman, amounted to $224- 20 including $10 from the Ladies' Auxiliary of the East Berlin Are company, $15 from the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Lutheran church and $5 from the Mite society of the Reformed church.

The Women's Work organization of the Bermudian Church of the Brethren sent a large consignment of new and used clothing to the Friends' Service committee, delphia. The clothing sent is examined there and then forwarded to the most needed countries of Europe. The water gauge at Shady Nook bridge, near the G. W. Harlacher home, showed that the Big Conewago rose fifteen feet Tuesday night.

The Women's Missionary society meets Monday evening at 8 o'clock in the Holtzschwemm church. The members are desirous of receiving the correct mailing address from all boys in the service of the community, so that they might mail the New Testaments to them this coming week. Williams was stationed at Elgin Field, Fla. He entered the service March 9, 1942. At the meeting of the Dillsburg Chapter of Future Farmers of America held in the high school, Lawrence Lentz, president, was in charge. The committee consisting of Richard Ho pes, Frank Slyder and Charles Rinehart initiated these Freshmen to Green Hands: Forest Baker, Robert Himes, Dale Grove, Robert Graham, Merle Kirkland, Clair Shearer, Lloyd Smith, Clarence Stone, Laverne Stough, George Wolf, George Frederick and Daniel Slyder. Arendtsville, Biglerville, Bonneauville, East Berlin, Fairfield, New Oxford, Cashtown, McKnightstown, Orrtanna and Barlow were praised for their part in the Red Cross blood donor campaign as the Harrisburg area service marked its first anniversary. One of the major factors which enabled the area to meet its quota in the four million pints of blood requested by the Army and Navy for processing into dried plasma in 1943 was the "magnificent response of the people in the communities visited by the mobile blood donor units."
