You also can sip 99-cent margaritas at Boulder and Palace stations, and both properties offer The Feast buffet, which features a smorgasbord of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. The 522-seat buffet at Boulder Station already serves 4,000 guests a day. The most visible way Boulder Station is trying to attract tourists to the property is via its enormous marquee, which can be spotted for miles as it erupts in bursts of color above Interstate 515.

It contains 66,000 bulbs and requires enough wattage to light six city blocks. Station Casinos selected Boulder Station's site near Interstate 515 and Boulder Highway because of its freeway access. "All the development and growth in the local market has been on the west side of Interstate 15," Sartini said. "We identified this site eight years ago because we felt the market on the east side of town was under served." Although Boulder Station now only has 300 hotel rooms, the property was built with plenty of room to expand. Plans also are in the works to build another property, called Sunset Station, six miles south on Interstate 515 off Sunset Road and Stephanie Street.

That project, scheduled to open in 1996, will include 300 to 500 hotel rooms. of our facilities are or will be built off major interstates," Sartini said. The purpose, Sartini said, was "to create a design of openness and easy mobility." Boulder Station also has plenty of reminders of the company's trademark railroad theme. A 270-seat Railhead Saloon lounge features country-western entertainers. And the centerpiece above the casino is a 50-foot stained-glass mural of an old-fashioned train. the Boulder Station and Palace Station Boulder Station features another Station Casinos trademark: food. The new property has eight fast-food eateries and five full-service restaurants.

Most are located along the walkway just beyond the casino. Boulder Station's full-service restaurants offer the same fare as Palace Station, with a few exceptions. The Broiler at Palace Station, for example, specializes in seafood, while the Boulder Station eatery offers both steak and seafood. The Pasta Palace and Guadalajara Bar Grill are at both properties, but By STACEY WELLING Station Casinos whose railroad-themed Palace Station has lured both locals and budget-conscious tourists aboard, has put another hotelcasino on track: Boulder Station. The 300-room, $103-million Boulder Station opened in August at Boulder Highway and Sahara near Interstate 515.

Las Vegas residents already have discovered the new Station Casinos property, with about 75 of the ca- sino and restaurant customers living in the area. Blake Sartini, president of Nevada operations for Station Casinos, said most of the hotel guests aren't from far away either: They primarily hail from California and Arizona. The new Victorian-themed property was designed to be bigger, prettier and more customer friend- ,1 ly than its sister property, Sartini said.
