Indian Cagers Depart for Double Bill at Salt Lake Tribe to Face In Utah Capital The Pocatello High school Indians prenared today for the first of pair of games in Salt Lake City i i i foes ranked among the top eight prep teams in the Beehive Jtate. The Indians will meet the Jordan High school Beetdiggcrs tonight in the Utah capital and follow up with another game tomorrow againsl powerful East High. Both contests will be non-conference affairs. Coach John Evans and a squad ol 13 left today after putting in two strenuous practices following Saturday's 64-58 defeat by the Idaho Falls Tigers. "We put iii almost every minute working against a zone defense, 1 Evans said, "because I'm quite si-re we'll run into at least one on the trip.

And if we don't handle the ball better than we did againsl Idaho Falls, we'll be in for trouble again." The Tigers used a zone for much of the lime and bad passing hurt the Indians last Saturday. Bu Evans believed this week's drills had helped the Tribe's attack. The Indian mentor added he liv tended to stick with his platoon system for the two road games The team has functioned in senior and junior units since the firs: game two weeks ago. The Indians los' their opener to Blackfoot, beat Preston and then fell before Idaho Falls in a Big Six contest. Evans was unsure what to expecl at Jordan tonight he was prepared for the worst.

The Beet- diggers, with big Pearl "Poison" Pollard In the lineup, have been ttate contenders in recent years. Pollard has departed this year but enough of his teammates remain to make the team a threat. East High's Leopards definitely will be favored with a huge height advantage over the Indians. Paced by six-foot four-inch Gary Chestang, the East squad has only once this season, that to Ogden. Evans said the Leopards also have a six-foot five-inch center, a six- foot three-inch forward to go with Chestang and two guards near the mark.

Evans said he was uncertain who would be In the starting lineup to- light, but he Indicated he would continue to experiement. His senior contingent of Tom Carlyle at center, Cantrll Nielsen and Calvin Stone at forwards, and Mike Hook and Gary Grimm at guards probably will open the contest, how- aver. But the alternate aggregation of Marvin Fields, Ross Hytting and Jerry Richmond and Bob and Jim Peed is expected to see early action. Don Walker and Keith Martindale will operate as reserves. fivanj said forward Chuck Brough, who missed last week's contest with knee injury, also would be out o'f action this week.

Brough injured the knee in a fall and has been slow recovering. The Indians will return after tomorrow's game to have Christmas Day off before preparing for another non-conference game here on Dec. 30 against Rigby, coached by former ISC star Bus Connor. Injuries Hurt Ram Prospects LOS ANGELES, (UP) Coach Sid Gillman may have counted his chickens before they hatched a days ago when he said his Los Angeles Rams were finally up to full strength fof the first time this season. With the National Football league championship game coming up Monday against the Cleveand Browns, Gillman was counting heavily upon his team being at full strength. But Monday the Rains' bruising fullback Tank Younger came up with a neck injury and 'esterday offensive center Leon told Gillman he had contracted a case of the mumps. Younger has been the Rams' big offensive gun, along with Ronnie Valler, rookie sensation who made he all-pro team. The Tank, who las been brushing would-be (ack- ers aside like the machine for which he was named, suffered a' lairline fracture of a vertebrae in his neck In the first half of the Western Division title clincher against Green Bay.

Both have played here, although it is not their normal position. McLaughlin may be sidelined for he game, but It is still too early tell. Fans Boo Negro Cager For Refusing Congrats By JACK GATES United Press Staff Correspondent NEW O'RLEANS (UP) White fans booed a visiting Negro player Tuesday night for refusing to accept a congratulatory pat on the back from players of the opposing team when he left an unsegregated college basketball game. The player, Shellie McMillon of Bradley University, had fouled out of the game between his team and Loyola University of New Orleans.

But McMillon, who had objected to previous foul rulings, angrily waved them off. Then he turned to the mixed crowd and stuck his tongue out at them. The while fans booed and hissed. The band struck up "Dixie." McMillon, one of the few Negroes ever permitted to play with whites in major collegiate athletics in the South, had contributed 11 points to favored Bradley's 7165 loss to Loyola. As the lanky Negro finally left the court with eight minutes left to play the booing and hissing gave way to a chant to the tune of "Bye-Bye, Blackbird." Loyola officials who pioneered desegregation of athletics at this site of a Negro's prospective controversial participation in Sugar Bowl football game, declined to comment on the incident.

The university, Roman Catholic institution, first lowered the Sou'th's color line on players in its home basketball games and last year ended segregation of spectators. Thus far, all white Loyola's games with teams bringing Negro players have been sole major exceptions to strict segregation of collegiate athletics here, as in the rest of the deep South. Last year Bnstcn College brought a Negro player to the Sugar Bowl game with Tennessee but he did not go on the field.
