"Chicken Soup" showed signs of chilling. Cosby Show," featuring the return of Lisa Bonet's character Denise with a new husband and child in tow, had a 26.1 rating and 44 percent of the Thursday night audience for NBC.

Comic Jackie Mason's "Chicken Soup," after placing No. 2 in the ratings last week behind "Roseanne," fell to 14th place in its second week. "Chicken Soup" follows "Roseanne" on Tuesday night, but lost 6.3 rating points in the transition, with an 18.4 percent rating and 29 share. ''Chicken Soup" played opposite a season premiere of "Matlock" on NBC and CBS' new series, "Wolf." A special Tuesday preview of "Doogie Howser, M.D.," producer Steven Bochco's latest entry for ABC, landed in eighth place. The show about a teen-age doctor got a 20.7 rating and a 32 share of the audience.

Its regular time slot is Wednesday night, where it earned a AP cane Hugo was in 39th place.
