The balloon was launched March 2 at Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, N. M. The Air Force, co-operating with the university in weather research projects, trailed the balloon by plane until it crossed Georgia and headed out to sea. From there it apparently drifted south of Bermuda and then toward the northeast. It landed at Myrdal, Norway, March 4.

Nils Bolstad, a railroad worker at Myrdal, found the balloon on top of a seven-foot snowdrift.
