Mon- John Rose, 74, Dies In Hospital Funeral services for John Sheridan Rose, 74, of 224 Granville local hospital who will died be Monday held in and Quesenberry Fuperal Home Chapel at 10 a.m. today with Dr. James W. and a sister, Mrs. Carl' Lewis Van Zandt and a nephew, Richard Karl Van Zandt, both of Huntington. Born March 13, 1890, at Hinton, he was a son of the late Richard David, and Caroline Hale Rose, member of a prominent pioneer family of Southern West Virginia. He attended Hinton and Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, and Randolph-Macon Academy at Front Royal, Va. He was a veteran of World War I.

and served with the Army Medical Corps, in France. He is a past member Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and a former Noble of Mystic Shrine, BeniKedem Temple in Charleston. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and before retiring, was employed in the Pharmaceutical Department at the Beckley Veterans Administration Hospital. Pallbearers will be Larkin S. Earl Cannady 0.

Beckley Lions Hear Of Center Beckley Lions Tuesday learnled of the purposes of the Beckley Area Appalachian Center of West Virginia University. Oscar C. Hutchison, center director, told of his duties and of the new development by the univer-1 sity holding classes for college graduate credits. Members reviewed action at this week's I-64 hearings held in Raineile and Hinton. Fred Helm, who gave the principal commentray, praised the "fine" preslenttion by the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce on why the I-64 corridor should go from White Sulphur Springs to Hinton to Beckley.

'Bits And Pieces' Will Feature Ventriloquist One of the most entertaining acts from "Bits and Pieces" the extra show scheduled Monday night at Cliffside Amphitheatre, Grandview State Park, will be the ventriloquist number by Jim and Iggy. Jim is James Knorr, music superintendent at Buckhannon Junior High School, and is seen nightly as Rev. Gordon Batelle in in the Rock." Iggy, of course, is the scene stealer in the act. Knorr, also a singer in the Civil War drama, is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan and has been entertaining with his ventriloquist act after studying with a professional. He spent a summer as a resident member of the Arundel Opera Theatre in Kennebunkport, Me.

appearing in "La Traviata" and "La Tosca." He also! has appeared in many musicals including "Brigadoon," "Carousel," and "Fantasticks." In addition to his appearance in the Broadway musicals section of the show singing "When the Children are Asleep" from "Carousel" with Nina Nutter; "Try to Remember" from "Fantasticks" and "Never Say No" from the same show with Blaine "Ike" Robinson. Tickets for the show are now on sale at the "Honey in the Rock" offices in Beckley and Grandview, The Melody Shop and Jan Campbell's Music Store. Prices are $2 for and $1 for children in the reserved section and $1 for adults and 50 cents for children as geheral admission. The entire first act of the show will feature dances by the "Honey" dance ensemble, burlesque, an Irish tenor, a trumpet player a la Al Hirt, acro-ling bats, Shakespeare and opera. The second act will be devoted to hits from Broadway musicals under the direction of Norman Fagan.

The two-hour show is being staged to show off the talents of the "Honey in the Rock" with Iggy, he also will company.
