DECEMBER 10, 1948 County 4-H Clubs Extension Service achieved. To receive one of the ribbons is a highhonor for a 4-H club. The Blue Ribbon clubs were: "Mountain Climbers," whol are under the leadership of Mrs. Harold Quillen and Mrs. Mayme Amick as leaders; the Quinwood -Montani" club with Mrs.

Faye Sledd as adult leader; and the Organ Cave Junior "4-H Helpers" with Mrs. Ray Boone as leader. These clubs ranked among the best VA. FRIDAY MORNING, 12 Greenbrier Rated High By LEWISBURG, Dec. 9 Twelve, of Greenbrier county's 4-H clubs have been recognized as blue, or white ribbon clubs by the extension service of West Virginia Jimmie Johnson, county club agents, said today.

These clubs have done ing work in their having had a public meeting, spon-: sored and carried through some worth-while community activity, of the club's members have completed their 4-H projects, and certain other standards have been in the state, Mr. Johnson said. Clubs which had 80 per cent of their membership completing projects were rated as Red Ribbon Clubs. Included were the Frankford "Mountaineers" with Mrs. R.

M. Musser as leader; the Maxwelton "Bonnie Brae" club with Mrs. Corkrean. as leader, and the with Mrs. Ray Boone as leader.

The volunteer leaders of 4-H clubs have been very, enthusiastic and useful, Mr. Johnson said. There are 28 other 4-H club leaders whose clubs have not won ribbons but who have done an excellent work with 4-H clubs. 1. 1 1 GREENBRIER VALLEY NEWS MOTHER'S CLUB TO AID GROUP ALDERSON, Dec.

9--The December meeting of. the Alderson Mother's Club was held at the! home of Mrs. W. E. Bondurant on Tuesday afternoon.

R. C. Cofer were hostesses. Following a brief meeting of the executive committee, the regular! business of the club was attended to. voted that the club donate dollars to Altel wast derson Boy Scouts and twenty-five: to the High School Band.

B. Moore, a state Farm Bureau director and secretary of the county Farm Bureau. will attend; the American Bureau meeting at Atlantic 14 to 16 an alternate delegate, from West Virginia. Ross Tuckwiller, Greenbrier county farmer will report at the meeting as a representative of the National Livestock Associa-1 tion. Delegate's from about 45 states: will attend the National tion of the American Farm Bureau.

Delegates from Virginia are Clyde Bonar Westin Mineral County and John Bailey of Mercer County. C. M. Speery of Harrison county and H. B.

Moore of Greenbrier county are delegates. Many of the other state directors, Leland Boothe, secretary, French Myles, former Greenbrier county agent, are also scheduled to attend the meeting. Ross Tuckwiller of Lewisburg will make National Livestock Association report for 1948. Delegates at the meeting will represent about one and quarter million American farmers. A num-! ber of Greenbrier county farmers are considering attending the meeting.

Draw Heavy Fines For Loaded Guns In. Cars LEWISBURG, Dec. J. W. Hutcheson said today that more than a half dozen persons had drawn fines of $20 each for carrying loaded guns or having guns illegally in their automobiles during the deer hunting season.

One person drew a fine of $20 for carrying a .22 caliber rifle hunting deer, which is also illegal as guns must be .25 caliber or larger. Fined were Robert J. Wood, Thomas Christopher, W. A. Carper, Louis Adkinson, Mike DeJurick, Lethrie Tibbs, and Paul Scott, Squire Hutcheson said.

A relatively recent statue provides that one may carry neither a loaded gun at any time or mantled guns between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. in an automobile. Guns during this! period be dismantled, encased or wrapped up, according to the regulation. These were the first prosecutions in this area under some of regulations.

BEING REPAIRED HONCEVERTE, Dec. 9 Ex-! tensive repairs and work is to be done on ceverte armory and as a result' no activities may be scheduled until after Jan. 1, 1949, it was announced this week. The armory is being completely painted and the floor is being sanded to place it in shape ior: the opening of the basketball season early next year. Both Company H. and the Greenbrier high school team will play their home games in: the armory titis season.
