BECKLEY POST-HERALD, BECKLEY, W. MONDAY MORNING, MAY 13, 1974 NINE Chapter In Greenbrier Marks 25th Anniversary WILLIAMSBURG About 42 members and guests attended the 25th anniversary observance of the Lewisburg Branch of American Association University Women held at the Mountain View Farm in Williamsburg Saturday beginning with a luncheon at 1 p.m. At the anniversary celebration, State Division President Dr. Angle King installed new officers for the year and also gave the program. Five new members were welcomed into the branch's membership and past presidents were recognized.

The incoming president, Mrs. Virginia Kidd, presented Miss Jeanne Eleanore Coyne with a flower presented at the recent state division convention held at Jackson's Mill for the branch having atained the largest per centage sain in membership. Miss Coyne acknowledged and expressed her appreciation to all of the branch's members for their help during her term in office, by calling each by name and acknowledging their efforts. During I a a i ceremony, Dr. King reminded each new officer of her duties and reminded the members that the goal for 1973-75 for the AAUW, consisted of three thoughts or goals to work toward and they are: Communication, awareness and involvement.

Dr. King's program' centered around the topic, "The Status of Women In East Africa." She narrated slides and was dressed in a native costume. In beginning her program, she a i "Whatever a strengthening family life and whatever focuses attention on he welfare of woman, must make need and claim of children, therefore I am ncluding children as a realistic and necessarv part of the status if women." She related her trip to Africa and said that her main reason or the visit was to visit the nission sites of the Pres- yterian Ciurch U.S. and that he purpose of the journey was secure much information as possible on the status of the women, not only in Zaire but Kenya and Ethiopia. Dr.

A compiled history of Lewisburg Branch's Histo composed bv Dr. Addah Bel McClaskey was presented those present and as a fav to all, a compote with varioi roses. Belle McClaskey (seated left) compiled a program as to the history of the branch and Mrs. Vivian M. Richardson served as the branch's first president. In back are Mrs. Margaret Buckley of White Sulphur Springs, a charter member; Mrs.

Edna M. Wright, a past president and during her term, the Lewisburg Branch was highest in the nation in Fellowships contributions per capita; Dr. Louise Callison of Charleston, the branch's first secretary, and the outgoing president, Mrs. a Eleanore Coyne. Five new members were welcomed into the branch's membership.

It was reported that during the 50th anniversary celebration held April 10, Mrs. Lillian Goff, guest attending, had held membership in the Order of Eastern Star since 1920, belonging to the Huntington chapter.
